Cars are getting better. In 2011-2012 there were 9 models that had ZERO driver fatalities.

A record nine car models recorded driver death rates of zero, in a periodic study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The group's focus on 2011 models driven through 2012 also found the overall death rate fell by more than a third from its previous study.

    Lol. Fatalities depends on the idiot driving the car. You can get killed even in a Volvo if you drive like an idiot.

      No surprise, but you missed the point. Cars are so much safer today that even when you drive like an idiot and get in an accident, you have a much better chance of surviving the accident.

      You see how that works? lol

      So you're telling me all the idiot drivers are driving cars like the KIA RIO?

    Of course it has nothing to do with the fact that the worst performing cars are probably ones that get bought by new drivers and the best performing ones are bought by people with lots of experience.

      I looked at the list, and noticed something.


      The 'safe car' list was dominated by SUVs.


      The 'death trap' list was dominated by subcompacts.


      Does that tell you something?

        I kinda doubt stats would be similar.

        I'm sure rental cars are more likely to be abused.
