Some monkeying about here, surely.

Mummified 200-year-old monk 'NOT dead' but in 'very deep meditation'

Yeah, already read it, good opening line but alas...

    Worth a look though.

So out of the 40 cases - how many have revived? I'd like to know more about this.

That's the question. Wonder it anyone thought to check body temp?

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

Their powers also give them total control over their temperature. Usually room temperature. He can even stop his brain waves. It's pretty darn impressive.

And the way he looks? Typical side effect of a measles vaccination.

He could wake up anytime he wants to...he just doesn't want to. And he never will.

What would body temperature prove? There HAVE been people that were VERY cold, and still alive.

That said, a mummy can NOT be alive! They take so much out, and prepare the inside, so if the person were a healthy person living and in a restful slumber, or even caught mid stride in a race, the process would KILL them.

You mean extracting their brain, taking out their organs, draining the blood, and tanning the skin...would kill them? Are you sure?

I think we need to keep an open mind here.

Yeah, I think one could make a case that even if they DID manage to stay alive, they would be like those guys on star trek that are blown apart and never reconstructed.

Um, I'm thinking that these particular mummies still have their body parts intact (or at least still there whatever shape they're in). Mummified doesn't always mean actively embalmed as in the Egyptian mummy sense of the word - it just means preserved. Would there really be this story or conversation had the mummies been disemboweled? HELLO.

      1) I was joking. I purposely misinterpreted Seasoned...to make a joke.

      2) The man is dead. The story exists because....well......some people are silly, and believe silly things.

and 3) Imagine how sore his back is, in that position, after 200 years.

Um....I was talking to Steve, LOL. He was the one talking about embalmed.

I also believe they are dead. The day any of the 40 they've found comes back to his body and life among us in that body, is the day I take up their religion with all seriousness and would be surprised if most others didn't, too.

In all seriousness, I don't know enough Buddhism, so I wonder if their belief limits it to the actual body,
or if it's more of a reincarnation thing. The article mentioned progression to becoming an actual Buddha.

Yeah, WHO KNOWS! But I am sure that that level, if acheivable by such a person, is achievable by others. WHO KNOWS? Sometimes I have surprised MYSELF! Not to say I am special in that regard or anything, but I am the only one that can TRULY know me,and I am the only one I can TRULY know, on that level at least. Others have said much the same. So AM I someone that has lived before and retains some knowledge about the past? WHO KNOWS!?

As for the idea of physicality, and how it relates to ability, have you ever considered how difficult it would be, with little real sense to arrange your body with millions of others to build a physical structure that is usable, and protective of the contents? How about navigating such a structure? How about collecting waste material, climbing trees that seem like they are TENS of miles high and cutting leaves from branches with your teeth? How about using that waste material to grow a fungus farm, and collecting only the good fungus? How about doing that with a brain the size of a grain of beach sand?

OK, OK, I exaggerated a bit! The brain may be SMALLER than a grain of beach sand! But I described the actions some ANTS do DAILY! And to think that the human brain, compared to their brain, is like a univac compared to a DIODE! So yeah, we really don't know that much about the brain.

Not a problem. You're probably just in a trance. I'm sure you're not dead and see no rainbows near the threads you are in.

I know a little bit about Buddhism, but not enough to have heard of this before. I'm not sure either if the body is thought to reactivate or if it's an energy type state thing. If there are any Buddhists on here, maybe they can tell us more about it. I think it can be explained without considering it a religious discussion for this purpose. We don't have to comment back whether we believe or not just to find out what this is about, I would think.
