RIP Bob Simon...

Bob Simon was a veteran war correspondent and he was once held captive for 40 days in Iraq. Bob had been covering conflicts since 1969, and is a true legend of his profession. During his career he won 40 major awards including an incredible 27 Emmys.

I thought with all of the posts regarding the Brian Williams false war report, we should acknowledge the passing of a truly amazing war reporter that has been there and done that time and time again.

Bob was still reporting for 60 Minutes up until the time of his death. Simon is very well respected in the journalism community, and those that are reporting on his passing are doing so with very heavy hearts.

Cheers

He was an excellent journalist. One of the best. I noticed he started having a problem speaking the last few years, as if he had a stroke perhaps, but I always enjoyed his reports on 60 minutes.
