Hey, I didn't say it, Brett Schoenfeld, a former competitive body builder did.

Why Bodybuilders Are Pounding Down Breast Milk

Bodybuilders will try just about anything to build bulging biceps, including apparently, drinking breast milk.
Ewww!

This may sound weird but I've often thought the obsession some body builders have with building muscles is like a male form of anorexia only it doesn't have a name.

Let me explain, a lot of women want to look thin, or slim.

A lot of men don't want to be thin.

    It's like two opposites.

Some women will go to extraordinary lengths to get thin. Well a chap that works here eats baby food and even takes menstrual diuretics to shed water. He eats chicken and rice 8 times a day and nothing else except baby food in between. Not only that he is obsessed with it. He works out for 2 hours every day. Every day. He panics if he has to miss a session.

I often wonder if it's a similar chemical imbalance.

Note, I'm not talking about all women who want to be thin or all men that lift weights but at the extreme ends of either, I wonder if it's a similar thing.

That's only me thinking out loud, I've no evidence and nothing to back it up. Just a thought.

That is what is equally disturbing. Women are selling their breast milk online at places like Craigslist and are getting up to $10 an ounce when purchased from a site such as onlythebreast dot com or eatsonfeets dot com.

Really gives new meaning to "I'll do anything to make a buck!"

      Personally, I think it's sick!

I'd sure like to think that site is for women with new babies they can't nurse. Baby formulas on the market now are so stuffed with chemicals, gmo's and crap it's a wonder how the kids immune systems ever develop well enough that they make it through grade school.

Obviously, from the discussion here, though, there's people interested for other reasons. When you think about it - how gross can it really be? Most of the people my age were breastfed as babies. The healthy ones were, anyhow. Why do we gak so hard about it as adults? Proof that getting older warps our brains. I'm not sure if I could swallow it if I knew what it was or not.

I was a breastfed baby also. And I breast fed my three babies too. I have absolutely nothing against women breastfeeding babies at all. That's not what I'm talking about here.

What I have a problem with is breastfeeding adult bodybuilders and selling breast milk to bodybuilders, not babies in need.

Breast milk has the right ingredients for maximum growth. Problem is there's always the risk of HIV from the milk.

Studies do indicate that breast milk has numerous advantages for newborns and infants, but not adults.

That’s because there is no scientific reason it should help. For example, if the idea is to take in more protein, one cup of breast milk contains 2.5 grams of protein per cup compared to 7.9 grams of protein in cow's milk, according to the USDA National Nutrition Database. It is also significantly higher in sugars and fat.

Even tho breast milk may have less protein than cow's milk I'll bet ya a million bucks that it has a lot more Human Growth Hormone.

Of course it does but doctors and researchers propose that GnRH influences the development of the newborn's sex organs, forestalling their maturation until the offspring is ready for reproduction. It could also assist in the wiring of the brain regions in command of sexual behavior like suppressing the premature development of the reproductive organs of females. It is unknown how GnRH in breast milk affects the growth and health of baby boys.

          This helps bodybuilders how?

Without all the specifics, GnRH is a NEEDED chemical! It is part of the HPGA, HPTA. It is ALSO called LHRH, which triggers LH. One side effect of LH, in men, is a feedback chemical called Testosterone. Of course, the POPULAR way to trigger that action is through tribulous terrestris or Eurycoma longifolia. SOME DO take a product called CLOMID, which ALSO triggers LH, and is sanctioned by the FDA for use in women to get eggs for IVF. As for the idea of wiring and stunting growth, I would love to know how they figure THAT could be the case. It is ESPECIALLY odd since the biggest push in a person is around puberty, and they tend to act in sexually normal ways prior to that.

Why would I, and HOW could I, EVER infer ANYTHING about myself? But if you mean IMPLY, NO, I never touched the stuff. Apparently I never did even as a baby.

I was talking about GNRH: Gonadotropin-releasing hormone - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As for human growth hormone, I *******STRONGLY******** doubt there is an appreciable amount in milk. If there were, a lot of small kids would not be so small, and normal kids might be practically grotesque! EVERYONE needs a little, but outside of that, it should be carefully administered. I WILL say that bodybuilders, and others, HAVE taken human growth hormone ALSO! OBVIOUSLY, IT wil control all the other stuff as well. One doctor has "fountain of youth" adds in magazines on airplanes, and in some periodicals. I checked! Most of what they promise, which INCLUDES all the bodybuilder stuff, as well as weightloss, more dark hair, etc.... In done through growth hormone. Since that is a controlled substance, etc.... They charge a FORTUNE for the service as well as the drugs. The stuff sold over the counter is an INCREDIBLY weak homeopathic(it might take a few hundred gallons to have a days dose), or is amino acids that simply FACILITATE the natural release.

What some bodybuilders do not know (and apparently many of us here) is that hard leg training is the single best way to grow the entire body. During heavy leg training, the stress on the body is so great that there is a huge release of hormones to stimulate growth. And that growth isn't just in the legs. It stimulates all muscles to grow. And it strengthens bone too.

And there is no bodybuilder that gets on stage, that has skinny legs. They would never win, even the lowest level contest. It's incredibly faulty training. And most bodybuilders would laugh at it.

See, you're talking the actual sport of bodybuilding for competitions, which I still find unattractive by the way.

Whereas I was referring to the do-it-youselfers who regularly hang out at the gyms.

Don't get me wrong, going to the gym for regular work outs is healthy, but I'm talking about the amateur bodybuilders there.

Never a bodybuilder. But I was a serious lifter in my late 20s. I've always been interested in strength.

I was giving a Kung Fu demonstration with a few other advanced students (in my early 20s) in a gym. Afterward, we talked to the gym's main bodybuilder. There was a bar with 300 pounds on it. I weighed in at about 165 pounds, and was in great shape. But I couldn't get the bar above my knees. The bodybuilder took the 300 pounds, and lifted it above his head, and did behind the neck presses for 5 or 6 reps. I was impressed.

Well that ruined my joke, Body-Builder...Frankenstein. But lets compromise, Claude Frankenfarter.

I learned that years ago when I was in physical therapy for a back problem. In therapy I didn't do hard training, but after when I was going to the gym I got into to it.
One of the best exercises anyone can do is walk. After I had back surgery in 03 I asked the doctor what exercises I should do. He simply said "walk". When I asked how far he said as far as you can and the next day walk a little further.

As for the breast milk, I guess I would try it if it was offered. For the most part I only use milk in my coffee so it would be a waste of time and energy to seek out breast milk.
One thing I've always wondered about though. Why do people think it's gross to drink human milk, but natural to drink cows milk. Myself, I prefer Goat's milk, but that's a whole nother conversation

If you put yourself in the right frame of mind, many of the things we do are frighteningly disgusting. To me, the simple act of putting food in or mouth, would be horrific, to someone from another planet...who didn't eat.

Tim; The two photos you showed. I wonder how much of that is genetics. The guy, for example....
Some people have very small thighs. Their legs are simply smaller than the rest of the body proportionately. I know a bodybuilder that has very skinny calves and forearms. No matter what he does, his forearms simply won't match his upper arms.

Some of us, maybe most of us, have bodies that aren't proportioned well.

But I do know a couple of weight trainers that never work their legs. No idea why.

I have a couple of friends in Las Vegas that are body builders. I think they're good guys. And the best part is, whenever I moved I'd give them a call and explain how lifting heavy boxes and furniture was a great way to work out.
