VoIP Service & Business Communications Help
I recently ran into an issue with my current phone setup.
After upgrading to the iPhone 6 from an iPhone 4, I noticed that I can no longer make calls using my VoIP service (Ringcentral) because while on my Ringcentral line using their app, and a call comes in on my iPhone service (ATT) at the same time, the initial call on my app gets put on hold. Needless to say, that's unacceptable when on a sales call or important call alike. The first time I realized the issue, my call was put on hold three times in the matter of five minutes.
I spoke with Apple and Ringcentral; the iPhone's native calling takes precedence over applications.
I have also tried other VoIP services with my iPhone 6 and the same issue applies.
I kicked around the idea of buying a second iPhone through ATT - one for my personal use and one for my direct business line - but ATT & Verizon do not get the best reception in my office and in some parts of my house. Plus, I make a lot of calls through my desk top unit (Polycom) of the VoIP system - I would miss the conference features of it.
So, I am stuck as to where to go from here. Already, I pay $60 a months for my direct business line through RC, which I think is quite high as is (Jive is cheaper, but haven't made the move yet because of the issue presented above).
Any suggestions on how I could proceed? I have to assume every VoIP customer is having the same issue on their Apple products - kind of crazy on Apples part.
Thanks in advance!
