Police deploy to save autistic boy's birthday

For Glenn Buratti's birthday, his mother Ashlee Buratti said she invited his entire class over for a party. When none of the 16 kids showed up, her son was devastated.

I saw this and shared it on FB. It's awesome that people stepped up like they did. The parents of the invited children are garbage wrapped in skin. How could they do that to an innocent little boy? I hope their whole community ostracizes their asses. See how they like being shunned. At least there will be a good reason for them being treated like lepers.

Great story ... but it most likely isn't the parent's fault that they didn't show up. I don't, and my kids certainly didn't, except every invitation they or I got to a party. It's not like the boy's mother put "autistic kid needs birthday party guests" on the invitations. They most likely didn't have a clue. I wouldn't have. I did not know, and didn't really want to know, every kid in my children's classes or their parents.

It's kind of up to her to network with other parents ... a little of that and it would have been a different outcome. But glad the Sheriff's and Fire departments stepped up, as well as other children and parents, once they knew the story.

If she makes this big of a deal about it, they might have known. If they didn't, and he was really autistic, he may have been looked at as weird or just really shy and either reputation could cause them to ignore the child. But that OTHERS stepped in like this is something. How did it happen so fast though?
