This is seriously cool, but at $1000+ AU, it is more for the serious hobbyist and start up business!

Cube 3D Printer For Sale | Consumer 3D Printer For Sale | Cubify

But it looks like a Back to the Future prop, (or a hollow, Apple monitor).

Personalize a chess set, create some mockups, (hopefully not a gun) and create things, which would be very difficult to near impossible by hand!

I Want One!!!

When I first heard of 3D printing I wasn't curious enough to look into it beyond a few threads posted here. After Shane's post, I decided to look into it a little more.

The technology has been around a lot longer than I would have guessed, since the 1980's. I can see a day when home businesses selling 3D printed objects and 3D designs won't be uncommon.

If you're like me and never really looked into it, here's a good primer on the subject:

What is 3D printing? How does 3D printing work?
    Signature

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

Shane, wait for a while and the prices will likely come down. Besides that, waiting should assure you get something that will do a lot more, just like computers, hand held calculators, cameras, etc. When more manufacturers are competing, prices will drop.

I remember way back when only those making executive salaries could afford a cell phone. One year I showed my boss the cell phones I purchased for my husband and myself for Christmas one year. He wanted to know how we could afford to do that...he had paid over 6 times for the exact same phone I bought and was upset he didn't wait a short while till the prices really came crashing down.

Yeah, l know, but it looks cool, and you can make almost anything with it.

Not up there with what Iron man had, but a close second!

I would gladly push the Black and Decker Dehydrator, off the bench for this baby!

Yeah man 3d printing is awesome! In fact, https://pinshape.com/3d-marketplace is from Vancouver - Proud of these guys. I wish the printers get cheaper though. So expensive still.
