Hi,

I would like to help one of the primary schools (for all who want to help, I can provide exact information about the school) in gathering money (fundraising) to buy new computers.
The cost of buying new computers is about $10 000.

Do you know where I can organize this type of fundraising?

Thank you for any information and help.

Best Regards and thank you for reply

I think a crowdfunding campaign would work. $10,000 is a very reasonable goal.

You would need to have a compelling story about the kids' need for computers (probably not hard).

Set various small goals that lead to the ultimate goal.

"Every $1,000 is a new computer", for example and post a little PC icon for each $1,000 raised.

Some campaigns need a "payoff" at the end for everyone who contributed so you could do something like create a YouTube video of all the kids with their new computer saying "thanks" or something when the target is reached.

Stay active on the page giving info and helping people.

    Offer incentives for donations like:
$50 donation get a school shirt
$100 get a piece of art produced by a class, etc.

These things thrive on social sharing so get the kids, parents and supporters to share the campaign on facebook, etc.

Create a press release about the innovative way kids are helping raise money themselves using crowdfunding to buy computers. That is a hot topic right now and you could easily get featured in various press sources.

A well written press release is often simply copy and pasted by the newspaper. They need content quickly and if you can give them something to fill space they will use it.

There are a number of different sites you can use for crowdfunding. I would do some research and see which best suits your needs.

Some are better used by "for profit" start ups, others non-profit, others charity.

Here is a good article about crowdfunding for non-profits and schools:

Actually, for less than $500 today you could get a nice computer AND networking hardware. And if it is a school, why not have school memorabilia for sale from a small store. I went to a private school once and they had lanyard, carabiners, stickers, shirts, trunks, etc.... I bet they cleared over $100 per student every year, PURE PROFIT.

You could probably get something for far less.

Like a rasberry pi with Linux on it.

    Anything else is just gravy.

YEAH, THAT TOO!!!!!! MAN, I feel SOOOOOOOOO cheated! I bought a PCDUINO

NOW, they have one bigger, faster, more expandable, more features, and cheaper!

But YEAH, buy one of these computers, and for less than $200, you could have EVERYTHING! A nice screen, windows like OS, networking, tons of software, a nice keyboard, etc... Of course the board ITSELF can cost less than like $50, including processor, basic peripherals, and memory.

I'd start with local businesses and ask them to "sponsor" a computer for the school. 20 businesses at $500 each...computers!

You could run it as advertising if the school allowed it where the local paper publishes names of businesses that contributed.
