Another site is saying that about 5,000,000 worldwide have diabetes mellitus, with 25% of all not knowing it! Assuming 7 billion people, and permuting ADA statistics out to ALL.....

NEW stats?
5000000
+1750000000
~1.76 Billion

ADA STATS, APPROXIMATE

Hispanic: 87360000
White: 94080000
Black: 136500000
Asian: 346500000
~.66 Billion

BTW I tried to use US statistics, and global racial/regional/cultural ratios and an approximate average from the American diabetes association to try to estimate racial amounts. If anything, I guessed LOW! I guessed low for blacks, Hispanics, Asians, and some whites. ALSO, I assumed nobody was a senior, so THEY aren't represented that much either. Of course places like China and Africa may have a lower percentage than the US, and those counts might be high.

So it is apparently between about 9 and 25 percent! BTW Approximately 55% of the world is Asian according to that site! 8% middle eastern, 8% pure Hispanic, 15% black, 16% white. Obviously, there is a minor rounding error of 2%.

The stats average is that one in five people or 20% have diabetes. However, some countries will have more than others. I am somewhat of an expert in this field, having written over 1000 articles on diabetes and related issues, and I have diabetes myself.

It's only "yikes" if you believe the 25% numbers....they could say 40% or 60%....if I don't know I have diabetes...how would anyone else know???

Estimates like this are what we used to call guesses.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

If you don't have any symptons or it doesn't run in the family- don't worry ur head about it.

Well, some people may not recognize the symptoms. ALSO, a couple symptoms are NOT necessarily diabetes mellitus( a dangerous debilitating and harmful disease), and actually diabetes insipidus(A inconvenience nuisance problem). And not everyone knows their family that well and you can always be THE FIRST!

You're right about that. There WAS a misquoted ADA statement before that said that 30% that were diabetic DIDN'T KNOW! SOMEONE claimed that they said that 30% of the world had it and didn't know!

I can't tell you how much it grinds me to see people with soda's in their hands 42/7 yet yapping about how the dr thinks they are tipping close to diabetes. Natural selection. Let the one's that don't give a crap to take care of their health die off.

42/7? Is that a new drink, or a new planet? Did someone shorten the hours? SERIOUSLY, if I could have a couple dozen extra hours a day, it would be GREAT!
