FACTS to MYTHS
As for being old enough to fight, MANY have lied to fight EARLIER! \
NOW, as for AGES? HERE are some you might be interested in, for the US in general.
7yo <- first AGE BREAK for movies and some things. Basically, after this, I think you may be considered a TWEEN.
13yo<- second AGE BREAK for movies and some things. This is ALSO when COPPA and some cultures start treating you as an adult! It is ALSO about the time SCHOOL can end, for AMISH.
14yo<- ANOTHER AGE BREAK for movies.
16yo<- AROUND this time, you can start driving a car, getting married, doing some things without parental consent, etc.... It varies by state.
17yo<- ANOTHER AGE BREAK for movies. You also MAY be tried as an adult.
18yo<- Generally considered an adult, can be held to contractual terms, sign contracts, etc.... You are often done with the standard 12 grades at this point.
21yo<- Generally able to drink/gamble, etc....
MORE you may not know!
25yo<- Generally able to be insured for cars and property, you also LOSE youth rights, like special deals in hostels. Upon reaching 26, you are no longer generally able to be on your parents insurance.
BTW some insurers will NOT insure people under 25 for cars and, if they do, they charge a higher price, often based on your sex and age. BTW men are then charged MORE! Many car rental places, perhaps all, WON'T rent to younger people, and some hotels won't. I asked why, and it is often due to insurance, and past history.
35yo<- You can be president of the US, apparently regardless of any other requirement. I wonder when they will lower THIS to 16 or 7! After all, THEY are times when you can do other things ALSO!
It WOULD be nice and proper if agencies told you their minimums UP FRONT, but they often don't.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.
