First Site For Sale on Flippa

How long have you been flipping then? And if you don't mind me being rude what was the average price you got for your sites?

As my post suggests, I've only flipped a couple before, so I'm no expert. This was more of an experiment really.

The sites I have sold before have been completely different, so no particular average to speak of.

Ok, I'm excited!

I launched my site on 24 Feb. I spent less than $10 on the domain name, then I spent about $50 on having some articles written.

I created a Wordpress site, setup some plugins, and started adding the articles slowly. I created some backlinks via blog commenting, and added some social bookmarking links.

Each post was SEO ready. I then submitted the blog to some major blog directories (about 10). The blog started getting some traffic more recently, and was showing up in the SERPs for relative tagerted key phrases.

I then listed the site on flippa.com (costing $19) with a BIN of $250.

It just sold this evening!! That's about $170 profit (even after fees). Ok, it was a lot of work to get it to this point, but no other costs involved. I could have sold the site sooner, but in this process I learned about social bookmarking and various new plugins I'd not used before.

All in all a success, but not sure that site flipping overall is a good business strategy for me. I have a few more sites to sell, but then I'll concentrate on my main projects.
