What to do with old disks?

Hi,

What should I do with the old computer disks that I no longer need or are outdated?

I did do a search but it only came up with "5 creative ways you can use the disks" type of results.

I just want to throw them out in a simple, practical and straightforward manner. For instance, can they be recycled or something?

Thanks!

3.5" disks, and even 5.25" and8" disks are primarily plastic and metal. And MOST of the metal is likely ferrous to some degree. The remainder of the waste is likely all paper. So I would say it is all recyclable. And NONE of it is hazardous waste, so you don't have to worry about that. One little known fact is that batteries, oil, paint, etc.... is hazardous waste, and supposed to be disposed of as such.

BTW CDs are plastic, so THEY are recyclable as well.

Hi, CDs and DVDs can be recycled. You can check whether your local recycling center are collecting them or send them to CD Recycling Center of America.
    Hope that helps

We recycle everything. "Trash" service here is divided into three different bins: garbage, recycling, and green waste. The recycle part is always full and I'm considering downsizing the size of the garbage bin because so little goes into it.
