I have been having one of those months where everything goes wrong.
Don't you just hate those?

anyway ... a few minutes ago I received an unexpected fedex.

In the box was a card and a buck knife.

The card said "I am sorry, I did not know how much this meant to you."
The card is unsigned.

The knife was my fathers, the 20th anniversary of his passing is coming
up next week.

I thought the knife was stolen when my house was broken into 10
or so years ago.

Interesting eh? I'm guessing the mystery sender has to be a family member.

The knife has zero monetary value. It just comes with a cool ( to me ) story.

My father broke down in the dead of winter and where the car stopped
was this knife open and sticking out of the top of a snow bank.

He used the knife to fix his car and keep going. From then on
he carried it everywhere. He called it his lucky knife.

He gave me the knife because at that time of my life I was
always doing stupid and dangerous things. He thought I
needed some luck.

... Maybe this week will be good after all

Sounds like it was definitely someone you know. Better to focus on the fact that they did the right thing and returned it to you.

Indeed. I'm not a grudge holder and I see no reason to attempt to
      figure out "who"

Truth is - I thought it was gone forever ... so just having it back
      makes me very happy.

someone in your life has a conscience, Ken. Yes, I too would take it as a good sign and it would renew my faith in the basic goodness of most people.
