Season 5 of Game Of Thrones leaked online.

In a bid to combat piracy, HBO was scheduled to release the latest Game Of Thrones season simultaneously across the globe.

This has been thwarted somewhat by the first 4 episodes being "leaked" online.

Game of Thrones season 5 leak topples HBO's house of cards, exposes weakness of drip-feed TV
(Caution - the article has an autoplay video embedded in it of the GOT S5 trailer).

As the article points out, it illustrates the redundancy of the old-fashioned "drip feed" method of airing TV shows, ie one episode a week . Netflix's House Of Cards overcame this now flawed business model by releasing the whole series in one hit. However, even that is not without its faults as the latest series was accidentally released a month earlier than scheduled.

All of this is an updated version of what has been going on since at least the 1980's. I used to get sent VHS copies of TV shows that weren't going to be shown on Australian TV for up to a year after they aired in the UK. It's just the speed that it happens now has caught them with their pants down.

Personally I think this is a trap. The episodes were leaked deliberately so that the leaker(s) can be identified and caught. I could be wrong, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Ha! I'm with you on this one.

There is something about 'leaks' that kind of intrigues me. Maybe they do it on purpose.

Haven't seen a single episode of Game of Thrones. Ever.

Raising a child is akin to knowing you're getting fired in 18 years and having to train your replacement without actively sabotaging them.

      I have not either.

What is the allure ? I honestly just do not know anything about it.

Additionally, while it might not be the greatest show in television history, it does contain the greatest single episode in history. Thrones fans will instantly know which one I'm talking about. Even though I read the books and knew exactly what was coming, that episode had the most visceral impact on me of anything I've watched.

The Red Wedding was good, but ...

... Breaking Bad and "Ozymandias" would like to have a word with you.

And, on a side note, the trailer for the final episodes of BB (including "Ozymandias") is still absolutely phenomenal:

Breaking Bad could have that word with me. Then I would promptly gut it like a pig and feed it to my direwolves (or the zombies I have chained in my shed, but that's another show...)

I found BB to be a good show, but I never agreed with the consensus vibe.

If not for the kid, I doubt I'd watch it but different strokes for different folks!
