Question About Receiving Payment By Western Union+++SCAM OR NOT??

Hope this is the right section to ask a question.

What I need to know is, if someone wants to make payment to me by Western Union, what information do I have to provide them with? I do not know this person, and he is asking for some information I am not comfortable just giving out to strangers.

He says he can not use paypal, but he can send WU. Ok, fine, but not sure what I should, or shouldn't be giving out. This is what he asked me for: "Please give me your email address ( personal one) and email me your name, valid phone number and valid address so I can send you money"

Tell me what you all think. Thanks

You're handing over a lot of information that could be used in the wrong way if you do that.

If they have the ability to contact you what do they need all that for? If you have a WU branch near you they can send the money there and you can pick it up.

Fwiw, a lot of the scams using WU include the payor asking you to accept a larger amount and then asking you to refund the difference. If you see that happening...it's a scam for sure.

If you can get that persons' phone number and call them from a pay phone you could speak with them and still protect your private number. If everything seems OK at that point, well, just procede as normal.

Once you give info out, you can't get it back. It can be sold as currency.

Thanks, kind of my thoughts exactly too. So basically, if he wanted to send me payment, all he needs is the nearest location to me, with what? Just my name, or can he just send it there and give me like a control # or something to pick it up?

I will NEVER give out personal information, no matter how much the sale is.

scam scam scam scam don't use WU ever they suck ass.

wtf can't use paypal? comeon. what kind of a man can't use paypal? my little sister can.

also paypal and the credit cards companies give you some sort of protection in case of a fraud

also use escrew.com (sorry if i miss speled it) to help you be safer.
