Did you stop watching the Star Wars series after JarJar's debut?

I've always been a big Star Wars fan but I have to tell you... After George Lucas and crew decided to make the series more 'kid-friendly' with JarJar, I lost interest. Am i alone? Are there any other SW fans here who lost their faith in the franchise after Jar Jar Binks made the scene?

No idea what you are talking about, there were the first three films and now this new one coming out. They never made any more. OK!

Yes, that comedy relief, and the stupid leader of the Ja-Ja gang that slobbered a lot!

I almost went off Star Wars after they rehashed it, distroyed it is more accurate, (l almost walked out of the theature when the crappy debri sounds effects happened from the destroyed planet when the Millennium Falcon came out of light speed).

But it looks like the latest installment has got it's mojo back!

I don't mind Jar Jar TBH. he was put in as a comic relief for the kids as ther wasn't much C3PO-R2D2 at the beginning. Sure some of his antics can be a bit too much, but he's there as a counter balance to the Sith storyline that will eventually lead to the beginning of the Empire and the Dark Times.

I personally loved The Phantom Menace. It had all the Star Wars elements- Tattoine (my fav planet), the Pod race, the amazing Double-Edged lightsaber duel, the stunning sights of Coruscant, the underwater Gungan city, etc, and it just FELT like Star Wars to me.

Problem was it was the most hyped most anticipated movie ever, 16 years since the last one, so it couldn't possibly live upto the massive hype.

The only thing I didn't much like on hindsight is the opening scene- that could've been done waay more grander. Also the storyline about a Trade federation and taxing of trade routes being the catalyst to the creation of the Galactic Empire seems a bit 'meh'.

Yes, JarJar was one of the biggest mistakes ever. Lucas really missed it with that character. Wonder if he began to doubt his judgement after that since the next series did not live up to expectations. Aside from getting older, maybe he figured it was time to hand it over to someone else for a fresh take...Aside from the insane amount of cash he received to do so.

His JarJar decision pretty much tainted the whole series. Pretty sad.
