Cloud Storage for Healthcare Practices

Recently, we nearly lost all of our practice's files due to an incident. To prevent this from ever happening we've decided that it's time to do an upgrade and store all of our data in a cloud storage. It has to be reliable, secure and specially made for healthcare practices.

Any ideas, suggestions, advice? Thank you.

Just do a quick Google search for HIPAA-compliant cloud storage. Some you might consider are:

    Carbonite
    Care Cloud
    Cloud Dip

I'm sure there are others. But HIPAA compliance (which would assume a high level of security) should be a high priority when considering options.

Make sure that whatever records system you are using can use the cloud for backup. I've been involved with some that would make it nigh near impossible to ever work right. For example, in some cases the only backup that can be done is through their system. Backing up in other ways would not get all the data.

Also you should check with whatever cloud provider you plan to use and make sure they'll sign a Business Associates Agreement.

    Thank you for your replies.
I'll make sure to include your suggestions, along with this company that my friend recommended, to the ones that I'm planning on calling next week.
Thanks for your tips. Any other tips on what I should be asking these companies when I call them?

    Mona,
Make sure the companies can provide Appropriate certifications like HIPPAHiTech, SOC 2, etc. your auditors will probably want to see your vendors are certified. Also I have not had great customer support from carbonite so be extra careful with them.
