The Sport of Boxing has come to an End.

Was this a boxing match or a perfect example of how greed has destroyed sports.

Can anyone tell me that the referee did his job? WWE headlocks, low blows, and hugs of desperation. Not one point deducted for this B. $.

Looks like a typical marketing exercise and product launch to me, along with fake scarcity (intermittent cable malfunctions due to demand) and all of that jazz.

Only when people stop paying to sit through multiple hours of continual advertising in order to watch half an hour of backwards dancing will the sport aspect come back. Until then, it's a farce, a pack of wolves gorging on a herd of sheep, seemingly keen to offer themselves up for consumption because they've apparently got nothing better to do with their time.

That being said, Mayweather out classes him through out and Manny at the end was a soar looser. I was rooting for Manny but after what he said at the end I felt let down, should of just said the better fighter won. Boxing will never die

"Class" is not a word that belongs to a serial wife-beater. In his son's own words:

Despite his out of ring doings and yes, he's a di** but in the ring is he ridiculous, he has counter punches coming before his opponent finished their punch. He is not a knock out fighter but his skill and ability to win a fight is up there with the best. In the ring, he is pure class, fine, outside he is a di**.

You have to go back probably decades to find a fight that actually lived up to its hype.

Personally, I like the three Arturo Gatti vs Mickey Ward fights. A clash of two opposing styles and two boxers who didn't know the meaning of 'throwing the towel in', in fact I think they took their trainer's towels away!

I like Foreman, but that fight doesn't come close to Hearns vs Hagler.

There is a reason historians call round 1 the best round in history. That fight was a classic.

Some historians consider Round 4 of Foreman-Lyle as the best round in history. It isn't unanimous by any means.

There's a reason why many boxing historians consider the Lyle/Foreman fight one of the best of all time. It isn't often you see heavyweights alternating knockdowns, getting off the canvass to knock the other boxer down by two of the hardest punchers in boxing history.

I like Foreman and I like Ron Lyle too. He was from Denver and I met him when I was a young teenager. He died fairly recently, but was a great example of bad guy turning his life around.

Yes, the Hagler/Hearns fight was a great all time fight. But that shouldn't stop a real boxing fan from appreciating other great fights. And there's plenty of boxing historians that rate other fights higher than Hagler-Hearns, such as Ali-Frazier 3, Argeullo-Pryor, Marciano-Walcott and even Foreman-Lyle.

The difference between then and now is that we used to be able to watch the big fights on regular TV, so they were watched by virtually all sports fans. Now, they are either on HBO or PPV and the audience is much smaller. But, there's still some great fights and it's too bad no one (in the USA) sees them.

It's also too bad the Mayweather/Manny fight wasn't one of them. But that's what you get with Mayweather...a great but boring defensive fighter. Reminds me a lot of Jimmy Young, who beat both Ron Lyle and George Foreman, sending Foreman into his first retirement. Young also lost a highly disputed decision to Ali.

If in tight quarters and a boxer turns to the side I think the ref is supposed to break them up and Floyd does a whole lot of that.

Maybe they can institute The Anti Mayweather Rules:

You know like the Tiger Woods Rules: (make the golf courses longer)

Maybe new rules are to be applied from now on but I haven't heard any talk of it yet.

    As you said...

No, WWE headlocks, low blows, and hugs of desperation more than a certain amount of times - then you will get points deducted.

Mayweather is one of the best boxers, maybe fighters ever. He hasn't just won but basically beaten up or else made every single one of his opponents basically look silly. Not only that but he's managed to make hundreds of millions of dollars off of his haters. I think that's a great accomplishment and to say otherwise is simply naive.

Mayweather is exactly what greed has produced, he is the golden ticket of illusion to fool people into buying tickets and pay per views to see if the "Undefeated" champion will be defeated. When the fact of the matter is that the fat cats, casinos, and bookies have decided who will win long before the first punch is ever thrown. Mayweather can go 100 and 0 but he will never be a real champion or hold a candle to Ali. He is the most boring fighter to watch and is constantly cheating. Boxing is all a game of money, corruption has destroyed the great sport.

I understand you didn't like the fight - we get it.

But Floyd's already a real champion and the best boxer in the last 15-20 years.

Something tells me you won't be happy when he breaks Marchiano's record of 49-0.

        And...

You're really stretching it when you say ...

When the fact of the matter is that the fat cats, casinos, and bookies have decided who will win long before the first punch is ever thrown.

There's no way of actually knowing but I'd bet...

...the haven't decided crap when it comes to Floyd.

I forgot about Roy but Floyd's case is still quite arguable - since he's undefeated.

Josie Harris sues Mayweather for $20M for lying in an interview with Katie Couric

    By Larry Brown
Josie Harris filed a lawsuit against ex-boyfriend Floyd Mayweather Jr. claiming that he lied in his interview with Katie Couric prior to his fight with Manny Pacquiao.
According to TMZ Sports, Harris is asking for over $20 million in damages for Mayweather repeatedly knowingly making false statements.
In his interview with Couric, Mayweather was asked about the 2010 incident with Harris in which he was accused of viciously attacking her. Mayweather later pleaded guilty to reduced misdemeanor charges, leading to a 90-day jail sentence. Mayweather told a much different tale from what the arrest report states.
“Did I kick, stomp and beat someone? No, that didn’t happen,” Mayweather told Couric. “I look in your face and say, ‘No, that didn’t happen.’ Did I restrain a woman that was on drugs? Yes, I did. So if they say that’s domestic violence, then, you know what? I’m guilty. I’m guilty of restraining someone.”
Harris’ lawyer says in the suit that Floyd knowingly lied in his interview with Couric to protect his image and help promote his fight with Pacquiao. Mayweather accused Harris of being on drugs and claims to have just restrained her, when that is not at all what Harris says happened.
The real story, according to Harris, is that Mayweather was jealous Harris was having a relationship with a new man — NBA player C.J. Watson — took away Harris’ cellphone, and later attacked her inside her home (Mayweather paid for the home and had Harris and their three children living there).
“Did he beat me to a pulp? No, but I had bruises on my body and contusions and [a] concussion because the hits were to the back of my head. I believe it was planned to do that … because the bruises don’t show,” Harris said in a 2013 interview with Yahoo.
Continuing from the Yahoo story where Harris explains what happened:
Mayweather then grabbed her by the hair and punched her in the back of the head “with a closed fist several times,” according to the [arrest] report. He then pulled her off the couch by her hair and twisted her left arm.
    […]
At one point, Mayweather yelled, “I’m going to kill you and the man you are messing around with,” Harris told police. “I’m going to have you both disappear.”
According to the arrest report, when Harris screamed for her children to call for help, Mayweather turned to them and warned he would “beat their ass if they left the house and called police.”
Mayweather’s own son, who helped save his mother, even called his father a “coward” for beating up Harris.
This wasn’t the first domestic violence incident between them; Harris accused Mayweather of beating her up in 2005, but she later dropped the charges and admitted she was lying. Really, it seems Mayweather paid her off with expensive gifts and more in exchange for her dropping the charges.
As recently in 2013, Harris posted photo evidence suggesting she and Mayweather were still sleeping together. As of last year she was still supporting Floyd and even got in a fight with one of his other ex-girlfriends. But Harris has learned how controlling Floyd was and is determined to move past that part of her life. She has distanced herself from him and his controlling ways, and she even is publishing a book about their dysfunctional relationship history.
Harris even appeared to comment on the lawsuit with an Instagram post of a heart and the words, “I’m not sorry” written inside them.
Here is the caption she left (edited for profanity):
“People push you to your limits but when you finally explode and fight back they want to call you out your name. Thou shall not take no s—. What you allow is what will continue.
“Strong people don’t “shut up and deal”. They draw a line and don’t let people walk on them. They take action to change their situation.”
