Long time freelance portal oDesk has been rebranded as Upwork.
How stupid is that?
Why change something so iconic as oDesk?
Plus the new color scheme is horrible.
Designer should be shot.

Elance is a smart company. I'm sure they know what they're doing. Upwork will be their main platform and for now, people can stay on Elance if they want to, but new people will sign up with Upwork and eventually, Upwork will be the only platform.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't eLance and oDesk owned by the same people? If so, why did they only change oDesk?

Exactly. Why change individual brand name even tho the 2 companies merged?? :smilies_confu sed:

The article I linked to explains it all. They are merging odesk and elance into one company that they will eventually be using exclusively. Odesk and Elance will disappear as separate entities. Upwork will be different than both of them in several ways and will be their new platform. So it should have a new brand image.

Odesk doesn't exist any longer. Get used to green or leave it. lol. I like green. Beats the queasy blue that so many companies use.

looks great and its a much better name. Odesk means nothing to anyone that doesn't know about the site already. It would more be for a writing service. Upwork communicates much more what the site/service is about although in in my opinion elance does the same.

Got it. As of now when you go to oDesk.com it redirects to UpWork. Though when you go to eLance the website is still the same as it has been.

Yeah ... they said that people can still use Elance "for now."

Yep they'll be killing it off according to this article: oDesk Becomes Upwork, But What About Elance?

"The plan is to keep Elance.com around for a couple of years and then eventually it will be going away," Upwork spokesperson Christina Schultz told Small Business Trends in a phone interview.

Great way to keep users on the platform.

Actually the logo is fairly smart if you look at it carefully.
Just the horrible green that's bothering me.
