First thing this morning I went to Pet Finders and couldn't believe my eyes. Just put up this morning from a foster homes shelter in Clarkston, my home town, was 4 Doxen/Beagle mix, 8 week old puppies!

If any of you remember my story of when I was a 10 yr. old little girl, sleeping on the back porch in a sleeping bag with my puppy, Snoopy, because I was told he couldn't sleep with me in the house, you may remember that he was a Doxen/Beagle mix.

Anyway, I immediately filled out the application and sent it in. I wasn't picky, I'll take any of them. They will be ready for adoption this coming Saturday.

I did list them in order I would like as first pick and subsequent picks.

And here they are...

1.

2.

3.

and 4.

I received the email stating my application was received and would be hearing from either the foster home or the director of the organization within 24 hours.

So, if you could please pray, send positive thoughts, cross your fingers and/or your toes, whatever you've got, I'll take it, lol!

Oh and thanks for putting up with my up and down journey to a new puppy.

And sorry If I'm annoying you.

What a pity you can't take all of them, they're all cuties.

Anyway, fingers, arms, toes, legs and eyes crossed for you.

And don't forget, we want more pictures of the one you get as soon as he/she is in his/her new home with his/her new family.

    All the best.

        OMGosh! OMGosh! OMGosh!

I saw a white truck driving slowly by the house with Canine Companions Rescue Center on the side. It caught my eye because it was driving so slowly. Two seconds later, my cell phone rang and it was the foster mother of the pups asking me to come and visit Lilith this Sunday at 11 am!

        OMGosh!

Well it sounds like finally this is it. You're going to get a puppy and you're going to get a breed you like to boot. I'm sure this is it Terra. Can't wait till you can bring her home.

So you had to give up on Jake? What a shame. My niece worked for a dog rescue once and she quit because the people who ran it acted like animal horders instead of rescuers. She saw too many dogs sitting without homes even though great people were trying to adopt. I've been refused when looking for a new kid, too.

Any of the pups above will be great little companions. It's tough to choose in a litter. The right one will choose you, though.

I think you missed it because you were out of town.

      Jake is gone

P.S. Probably by early next week you will be running outside at least 15 times a day for potty training. It's good exercise :-)

That's cool! Nope, I never knew it but I practiced calling for Lilith and found I got all tongue tied. So I decided if I get her or any of her sisters, I'll stick with the letter "L" and either name her Lexi or Lacey depending upon whether she's fun and playful or more prissy.

If I get the little brother, I'll name him Levi, I think. That just reminds me of a favorite pair of comfy jeans, haha!

They are young and won't have identified with their names yet - so any name you choose will be fine.

This is the perfect time of the year for house breaking. You can be out with her and do the praise thing after every "event". The pup will catch on very quickly.

Exactly - also consider using the phrase "go outside" or something that suits you both as you take the dog out and any time she/he does his "thing" while you are outside. It associates a phrase with the activity and with going "out" the door.

The fourth puppy looks suspicious. He may be a spy. When you go to pick one up...skip the one wearing sunglasses. They're always trouble.

Yep! I've been approved and I just need to go and meet her to make sure I approve of her. And you know I will. I just need to have the money ready to pay for her, sign a contract stating I will follow up with her shots, and get her fixed (which is included in the adoption fee) with one of their vet's offices they work with and license her and if I ever decide I can't keep her, I'll return her to them.

If I do so within the first 30 days, I'll get my money back. But both you and I know that when I get her, I'm never going to let her go! It's cool that their vet is the one Bill and I chose to use before we even tried to adopt. It's the one his mom has used for years.

Her little brother Lucian has already gone to his forever home just today.

Yikes! If this isn't it, I'll be thrown deep into the depths of despair.

This is what they sent me with my confirmation email stating they had received my application.

"Once an application has been submitted, it will immediately be forwarded to the person responsible for adopting the pet you applied for, usually the foster or our director, and they will contact you with the status of your application within 24 hours. If we feel your home is appropriate and the animal is still available, we will ask that you schedule an appointment to meet the dog and complete the paperwork for adoption."

When you open it up it will leap up and lick your face and wag it's tail and you will instantly love it. So there.

Terra, even if she does identify with "Lilith," simply pick the name you want and call her by both for a while. So "Lilith" becomes "Lilith Walking Carpet" for a few days. Then you gradually drop "Lilith."

Terra - I find it actually best to change a dog's name. That way they understand they are in a new life now - and know there will be changes. I think it eliminates some of the stress and helps them identify with you as their lead companion. It only takes them a day to catch on that they are someone new with a new lifestyle now. They're smart animals, after all.

Believe me Kay, I thought about it.

But they have adoption fairs every Sunday at 12 noon at various pet supply stores around and make appointments during the week up until the event. I have been personally invited to the directer of the center's home which is less than a mile from my house to see Lilith/Lexi and to complete the paperwork and finish the adoption process. I really don't want to mess this up.
