I thought about it once, when I saw a guy in Mississippi deliberately swerve to run over a turtle that was on the road.

That kind of stuff is just sick.

That particular action makes my head explode. It's sport where I live, at this time of year. I always stop and carry them to other side. Especially the snapping turtles.

Should you ever get word that I was struck and killed doing so, know that I died in pursuit of a noble cause. lol

I hate it when we have this argument about humans vs animals - we should respect all living beings.

as for the guy who mowed down the ducks - he is evil - period. Karma will get him eventually.

Respect, like trust, needs to be earned, not doled out automatically and indiscriminately.

In my book, disregard for any life is a free ticket to disregard that person as a human completely. Humans want to think they are special and some form of superior species. They sure don't act like it. I'm betting if we could understand the world from a lot of animals perspectives, we'd find ourselves lacking one hell of a lot of intelligence, and heart, that they have. All we seem to have to our credit is the ability to cause harm - to the environment, to other life, to ourselves. Love these opposable thumbs. Right.

As much as I love animals, there is absolutely zilch evidence to prove that animals have EQUAL abilities to Reason and experience Emotions as humans.

You are going on pure emotion in your statement when you say that Humans are not superior to Animals.

The fact of the matter is that we have created a Civilization that can function in incredibly complex ways and that alone does proof that we are indeed Superior.

Do we have bottom dweller humans that are lower than other animals ? Of course, we have these disgusting human beings in our midst like the guy on the lawn mower.

But there is plenty of evidence to show that Human Beings have continued to do amazing, productive things throughout the history of this World.

You choose to just focus on the crap.

And yes there is a bunch of Crap we have done. No question

But I wake up every morning wanting to concentrate on the incredible things we do everyday.

Its a choice we each have to make

P.S. I can honestly say I wouldn't punch this psycho out on the Mower but I would push him off it if I saw him deliberately doing this with a smirk . Absolutely

Sorry - but my assessments aren't "emotional". They are based on cognitive studies. It's actually very possible that the dolphin exceeds us in intelligence. What they can't do is put it to work at altering their environment in the fashion we do ours. Many animals have higher cognitive functions. Enough so that I think it's very selfcentric to think that most, if not all, can't. That is an emotional response that allows idiots to do things like mow down a life just for fun.

A family of NINE ducks? That is a HUGE family! HERE, one day, there were SEVERAL families of geese! I don't know whether someone called the cops, or they just happened to be here, but you know what happened NEXT? The police shut down the street while the geese crossed! Even though I hate being awakened by the geese, and being delayed on my trip home, etc.... I kind of liked the idea that they were treated as if they were human kids at a school crossing.
