Hooray! Lexi is mine all mine and is the best behaved puppy I have ever met!!

She has gone potty #1 outside three times already and the last one, she was inside and went to the door and howled like a beagle, lol! I took her out and she went!

She has gone #2 once, and that was right after her lunch when I immediately took her out afterwards.

She is so amazing! She loves her crate and goes right in there and chews on her chew sticks. She's napping right now. I tuckered her out, haha!

With no further ado, here is Lexi!

The last one of her is where she fell asleep on hubby's lap as he's watching drag racing. Awww!

Terra

Edit: Whoops!! Sorry they're so big. I must work on my resizing skills.

      You could've done better.

      Boooo! Hisssssss!

      She's a halfbreed you meanie!

She's half Dachshund and half Beagle which is exactly the same as my most favorite puppy as a kid.

      She's perfect and you suck!

A Beashund??? Look at her, the head is Beagle shaped.

I've been checking in here every few minutes just WAITING to hear she was home with you.

Love the ears....nice hostas, too, by the way. I need to plant some here!

I think WC needs some crate training...I don't know how you could take him out in public..

            Want to hear something funny?

I dreamed last night that when I woke up this morning, it was dark and cloudy and rainy. But right when we were leaving the drive way to go get Lexi, the sun popped out.

And then when we were driving home, it clouded up for a minute and rained just a little more. Then the sun popped out again and there was a beautiful rainbow with the most vibrant colors I've ever seen in a rainbow.

The rainbow seemed to follow us home and when we pulled into the driveway, you could see the end of the rainbow was sitting right in the front yard! And you could see the sun's reflection on the pond ripples and each raindrop in the grass which made them look like sparkling diamonds. Then I woke up...

To cloudy, stormy looking clouds and to rain. It rained all morning and sure enough, right when we got into the car, the sun popped out, just like in my dream!

It did not rain again and there was no rainbow, just sunny, cloudy, sunny, cloudy, all day long.

I think the rainbow colors and the sparking diamonds were relaying how I felt on the inside with finally rescuing a new puppy, haha!

Ready for another expert dream interpretation?

WC is the clouds and rain, just waiting for the happiness to poop on from above.

              That's all.

              Congratulations, btw! She is adorable.

I had a beagle/lab mix from the time he was 3 until he passed at 12.

Just once, in all those years, did I get a full-throated beagle howl out of him. I had him in my open Jeep Wrangler, we were stopped at a Michigan u-turn, and an ambulance came screaming by us. At that moment, he just let one loose, in all its beagle glory.

I spent the rest of his years trying to recreate that moment, I thought it was so awesome. I never succeeded, but he gave me plenty of great moments to make up for it.

Perfect interpretation as the beginning of this thread shows!

I love Beagle howls! Your guy did give you one and that's better than none, right?

Besides, how can you not love a dog? Well, except if they're chewing your leg off, literally. But I blame that kind of behavior on the owner.

                      That made me laugh.

Poor little pooch - left her brother and sisters and her mom. First car ride - strangers ooing and aahing over her - new house, new yard, new smells, new people.

Yeah, I can easily change my look.
Cut me hair, grow a stubble, wear me shades and I look like a thug who chopped up a few with a machete. Me broken nose helps as well.

But then I grow me hair long and have a close shave and I look feminine.

Not you WC! And there is nothing you can do to take the joy, happiness and warm fuzzy feelings away from me so give it up! You have utterly failed and it's getting rather old!

                      April,

Lexi only woke once during the night having to go potty. I got to sleep in my own bed!

First thing this morning, I took her out again and she tinkled. I brought her in, started the coffee pot, fed her and then went back upstairs for my own tinkle. When I came back downstairs, she had gone #2 on the pee-pee pad in front of the door.

She really is too good to be true!

I would hate having to clean up after an animal.
Probably why I would never have a pet.
Maybe one day they will genetically engineer pets that don't poop.

Till that day I am content feeding the stray cats.

You gonna' bronze that #2? LOL

A couple of times, I got home later than I planned.
My Husky figured out how to pee in the bath tub on his own.
Somehow he would hold #2 until I could let him out.

It seems like potty training is a natural thing to a lot of dogs.
Husky's tend to make a certain area in the yard their bathroom.

                        -----

I had a couple, probably in their 70s, check in yesterday.
The man contends he's allergic to dogs now, but years ago
they had a dog that was so good they stopped getting dogs after him.
They felt they could never find another that good.

When they were at the breeder, he did not rush them like his litter mates.
He stayed back. They asked what's up with that pup, and the breeder
said he had already learned to stay down. That's why they chose him.

That was when we first got home with her and she hadn't even been in the house yet. Things have changed already. Every time I look her in the eye, I get puppy kisses on my nose. =)

        Yeah, it's a real drag.

The only racing I can get into even half way is the Pike's Peak Hill Climb.

NASCAR roundy-rounds put me to sleep, but not drag racing. I can't wait to get back out to the track this year.

                  Probably not, lol!

But I'm fully prepared for it.

First, we're going to put her little crate up in our room tonight hoping just being around us will be good for her to sleep. We've noticed that she will either lie down next to Bill, or to me when she is tired and fall right to sleep.

She won't take a little nap if she isn't near one of us.

But if she cries and howls, I promised Bill that I would take her downstairs and sleep on the couch.

                  So, only time will tell.

So far, she has been very obedient. She comes when we say "Come Lexi". She goes to the door when we say "outside"

She whines when she has to go potty and goes to the door.

She goes into her crate all by herself and doesn't cry if we put her in there.

But I'm thinking she can't be perfect at everything! Right?

It's probably going to be the overnight thing, lol!

Hold on! I'm going to measure her...

Okay, she's 5 1/2 inches tall to her shoulder, and she's 14 inches long from chest to her tail, not including her tail.

The staff vet doesn't think she'll be over 20 pounds, 25 at the very max, he said.

I met her mother Annabelle and she is a very small beagle. Her daddy was a longer haired Doxen.

      Anyway, I'm in love.

That is a little bigger than I thought she'd get. I thought you were after a pocket pooch. She's gonna love that pond. What a perfect spot you have for a little guy that size. Maybe I'll get to meet her in person sometime.

Nah, the property is too big for a pocket pooch, lol!

Of course you'll get to meet her. It'll be the next time you visit your dad.

Awe, he's just jealous. He's been trying to find someone who will rescue him and pet him and hug and kiss him. He calls the little guy a common mongrel, but he secretly wishes he was that lovable little puppy getting all that female affection.

I'm out of thanks already guys, but I appreciate you Bud!

      Dan,

I'm not that crazy about doggie doo, on the pee-pee pad or otherwise, lol!

      I love huskies!

I met a husky mix when we went to pick up Lexi. He was too cool! He looked more like whatever he was mixed with but he had one husky eye. I wish I could have got him as well.

Let me see if I can find his pic...hold on...

It's gone. Someone must have adopted him and that doesn't surprise me!

I'm happy for him. His name was Dave.

She really sounds like she is going to be a very good dog, Terra. The one we have now and the one before never cried through the night. Other pups really drove us crazy crying at night, they were like having a real baby in the house.

Just wait until the rest of your family sees her, I'm sure they will be very happy, too.

We went to the pet store to get dog chow a couple days ago and one of the rescues that were there had the most gorgeous, friendly, beautiful pure white kitten looking for a home. Greenish eyes, so she wasn't deaf. What a temptation, but for us, it's just one pet at a time. I can still get my cat fix at a couple neighbors' homes, but just not the same as having one of your own living with you.
