Amazon Textbook Condition
I recently needed a textbook for a class, and purchased on Amazon from an independent seller a "Like New" copy. It was $95, and the cheapest used book in "acceptable" condition was $70.
Anyways, I get the book in the mail, it is falling apart, every. single. page. is highlighted and has notes on the margins in pen on about 50% of the pages.
I contacted the seller, who told me they could either give me a partial of 35% to keep the book 'as-is' or I could send the book back, and they would refund me, minus a 50% restocking fee, and I would have to pay for shipping myself. (Also, I wouldn't get my shipping fee I paid to them back).
Has anyone ever heard of a policy like this? And I'm not sure which option to choose...I need textbook for Monday, so I could try to order another one, but I feel like I'm already in the hole enough as it is and should just suck up a used textbook in this poor of condition.
What if they're not stars? What if they are holes poked in the top of a container so we can breath?
