    I'll smoke anything that combusts.

Actually, I smoke the small cigars that look like cigarettes - they're cleaner tobacco than the average cig. They're cheap $2 bucks a pack. I also us a filter called "Tar block" to draw the tar out so I'm not sucking that in. Don't want that tar.

I bought a pack of regular cigs one night that I ran out too late to get my usual smokes. I was appalled at how much tar they had in them. I can smoke 3 of mine on one filter - and could only smoke one cig on each filter.

As far as how much? 5 to 7 packs a week.

I vape every once in a great while. I've also noticed more vaping shops popping up in southern California. No doubt a big driving force behind that is:

    * Medical Marijuana
    * More people are learning about vaping

Those liquids they use, if sweetened, are just as dangerous as the chemicals they put in tobacco. Plus - moisture in the lungs is also a danger - it breeds bacteria such as pneumonia, and induces attacks in asthmatics. So.........vap isn't necessarily a "healthy" alternative.

That's a crock of BS. You know nothing about vaping and continue to pollute your own lungs with hundreds of carcinogenic chemicals. Those little filters do nothing except give you piece of mind. They allow smaller particles of tar into your lungs which get deeply embedded in your nice black lung tissue.

Now, now, she does have a point.

You may not get lung cancer, but with all the nicotine you're still breathing in, I'd wager you're still at high risk for such lovely stuff as heart attack and stroke.

It's not nearly as safe as you think it to be.

I don't recall mentioning that vaping was a healthy alternative only that I vape once in a while. =)

Before I started vaping I was short of breath and had a smoker's cough. Those are gone. My sense of taste and smell have returned ...not always a good thing, but that's the way it's supposed to be. I don't smoke sweetened eliquid ... only tobacco flavored but that's just my preference. With cigarettes having literally hundreds of toxic chemicals, I'm happy with vaping as an alternative and I consider it a healthy alternative.

            Hi,

I'm one of those unbearable ex-smokers.

Gave up on 13/04/13 after 28 years of smoking like a chimney (that's just over two years ago). I used the cold turkey method, (no vaping or nicotine patch/pill) but just sucked sweets for a few months instead and had to then give up my new addiction to sweets.

I highly recommend it, but it's a tough challenge!

I can't accurately quantify how much it helped, but one thing I did (which was a bit out of character) was to write down a whole A4 page of the benefits of giving up. I rarely looked at it (so I guess it was the writing down part that helped), but I have kept it as a memento because I believe that it empowered me on some level.

I'm sorry but it's hard to take health advice about the hazards of vaping...from a tobacco smoker.

Comments about inhaling a steam vapor make no sense at all - we buy vaporizers to help babies breathe better. Breathing steam is often used as a medical treatment.

There is no safe way to smoke tobacco. Everyone knows that so if you have the habit, own it and enjoy it.

Exactly. Vaporizers used on children and adults for respiratory ailments, humidifiers used to make dry air more comfortable, or just plain old high humidity levels in the air we breath in humid weather.

As for "chemicals" in the sweetened liquids, people make their own health decisions. I wouldn't vape cinnamon, strawberries, blueberries, cheesecake or cotton candy or any other of the flavors other than tobacco. I like to keep my liquid simple. 3 ingredients and none of those ingredients are among the hundreds of carcinogens found in cigarette smoke. If I did indulge in a flavor other then tobacco, I would purchase that flavor separately and add a drop or two to my tobacco flavored bottle, knowing that the amount I would be using was minimal.

I don't "promote" vaping and I wouldn't dream of promoting or defending smoking. I think it's a personal choice. It is better to never smoke. I smoked for years and never defended the habit. Because lung cancer, only one of the health hazards of smoking can "brew" for 15 years or more, you are never really safe from it even after you quit.

But some like to make crap up to make themselves feel better about their own habit.

actually I feel " there is not social smoker ".

personally when I start smoking also like that one day can just smoke one or two
and slowly 10 sticks or 15 sticks per day

if there is how you prevent yourself smoke more?

        and the crave come in?

I was a heavy smoker for 35 years. I quit using Chantix a little over six years ago.

About two and a half years ago I started using a personal vaporizer (e-cig) to keep from going back to smoking. It's been a life-saver!!

So now I'm a heavy vaper.

As for health issues, I echo Suzanne. I had to quit smoking for medical reasons - wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath, etc.

None of that has returned since I started to vape.

Like Suzanne, I don't sweeten my ejuice with anything. Just plain old menthol. In fact, the product I use doesn't advocate all the extra flavorings. They only produce tobacco and menthol and that's it.

And Suzanne hit on all of the other things that I agree with 100% too.

Thanks Suzanne! You saved me some typing time!

seem like a few Vapers here .
I happen try before at first feel " amazing " than slowly noticed I keep vaping whole day..

perhaps easy to access and don't have any smell.

even you smoke at home...parents don't even know

but slowly I go back to cigarettes because my country ban Vaper .
      thus supplies cannot come in.

Interesting article here, complete and utter nonsense why these countries have chosen to ban them. Does not stand up to scrutiny. Perhaps they make a lot of tax money from normal cigs.
