Mini Ipad for reading ebooks

Hi Guys,

I love books but they take up a lot of space and there are so many good books that I want to buy so I've decided it's time to get an electronic reader. I'm a die hard Apple fan so would appreciate hearing from you Apple users that have an ipad mini and use it for reading books. On a scale of 1 - 10 how would you rate the quality? I've seen the Kindle white (or something like that) and the quality is excellent but I'd rather stick with Apple if they've managed to achieve the same or similar quality.

My wife is an Apple fanatic, has 2 ipads and a laptop, so I know what they are like.

Thing is though, the monochrome Kindle is perfect for the task, reading books, and dirt cheap. Anything else, not really. So ask yourself, do you want to just read or do other things on it, if it's just reading then your just buying an expensive "Cool" product and not making any real use of it other than doing one thing.

My prior employer gave me an iPad Mini, which I then gave to my girlfriend. She loves it for reading. The font can be adjusted, so she doesn't even need to wear glasses to read. There's a Kindle app, so you don't need to buy separate hardware. And, as noted above, you can do many other things with the Mini, compared to the dedicated Kindle hardware.

I also love to read books. Reading books on Laptop is irritating . In my opinion reading books on tab or iPad is better option.

    Thank you all for replying.

It makes sense to me to buy an ipad so that I can use its other features hence my reluctance to buy a kindle just for reading as I didn't want to carry a kindle and an ipad. However, as kindle have done such an excellent job with the quality of text I was wondering if Apple's quality on an ipad was anywhere close to that. Apple are great at what they do but electronic readers are not their primary business.

      Greetings,

No one has ever heard of actual reviews?

Best eBook Reader on the Market

In summation: The iPad Mini is the best eBook reader on our comprehensive lineup. It offers the most content, including books, magazines, newspapers, audio, video, photos and the ability to read the most document formats. It gives you access to millions of movies, TV shows and songs. Its design is sleek, smooth and durable. The iOS powers this consumer-driven device, and you can read any eBook anywhere, with 10 or more hours of battery life. It's difficult to read text in bright sunlight, but the iPad Mini's benefits and extensive apps, functions and features far outweigh any drawbacks.

      Cheers. - Frank

My concern with the term "actual" is that review sites often tend to be suspect these days, simply trying to maximize affiliate link revenue. No idea if this particular site is guilty or not, although one can hover one's mouse over the "buy" links and see uncloaked Amazon affiliate links.

Further, it's only May, and the site already deprecated this review written in late March, which I sort of read as, "the other products' affiliate links pay us more":

Editor's Note: This product has been removed from viewing as part of this site because it is no longer applicable to this site. You can still read our original review below, but TopTenREVIEWS is no longer updating this product's information.

I never rely on any one or even 10 review sites. I have been known to read many dozens of reviews before purchasing anything. If I require comic relief I'll even read Amazon reviews. It's an Apple product. It's hard to find any class of product that they don't excel in, whether you subscribe to that belief or not. I gave one link out of hundreds. I'm happy to do the research for the OP, but he'll need to pay me. :-)

Didn't I just find you some $1 chirping cricket audio files? lol

Sunday is supposed to be my day of rest. Cut me some slack.

I was not attacking you, Frank, and I was also supporting the Apple product.

Hi. Sorry if I sounded defensive. I was actually trying to be more lighthearted that I normally am. So much for that effort.

I in no way felt that you were attacking me, David. :-)
