How Do You Know What Your Purpose is in Life?

Someone once said, "When the purpose of a thing is unknown, abuse is inevitable".
Meaning that you have not yet begun to live until you understand the why behind each breath you take.
What are your thoughts?

  First time I asked my father what my purpose was he said, "to be a pain in the ass".
  The second time I asked he said, "to be responsible for yourself".
  So I'm a responsible pain in the ass.

Think about a colony of ants.
The purpose of the colony is to clean up a little piece of the forest. Each ant has a small task to accomplish, this is its purpose, so the purpose of the ant colony is fulfilled.
Similarly, humans are a being colony on earth. The purpose of that colony is to make advances in science, if possible without blowing up the entire species. Each human has his little task, to contribute to the main task.

I think we all have a purpose, even if we do not know it. We can also have more than one purpose. It can also be different for everyone.

I went to a psychic recently who told me I would be successful and happy when I determined what my life purpose was - but I forgot to ask her what it was and I still kick myself because i forgot to ask

Your purpose in life is as follows:

You're born,
you die...
but BEFORE you die,
you've made the world better for someone or something.

It could be your family, it could be your friends, it could be your community, it could be your cause...the fact is, the world was made a better place because you were in it.

I think that constant introspection is a good way to find out your true purpose in life. Sometimes it takes a life-changing experience to allow ourselves to become open to what destiny is trying to reach out and help us discover as our elightened path.
