Freelancer.com and Invoices

I've recently signed up for Freelancer.com and I'm trying to get how the system works. This is not about Freelancer.com per se but applies to all similar web sites.

Let's say I won a job and successfully complete it. Then, how does the invoicing procedure work? Is Freelancer.com issuing an invoice on behalf of me automatically ? if that is so what kind of information would the invoice contain? Will it appear as being issued by Freelancer itself, thus the invoice would contain Freelancer's.com business details, or will it appear as being issued by me , thus it would contain my details ?

Or do I somehow have to issue an invoice manually myself?

if you are using upwork.com, then the way that job payments work over at that freelancing website, is that as a freelancer, you are able to accept jobs at a fixed-rate, or at an hourly rate agreement.

If your job assignment is set to pay you at a fixed-rate for instance then, then you are usually paid the entire amount that is agreed upon by you, as well as your employer, at the end of your job completion.

There are times however, that you are able to request for up-front payments , but settling on those terms will depend on the agreements that you, and the one who is employing you, are able to come to terms with, as well.

Next, if you agree to work on a project that is set to pay you on an hourly basis, then your employer will most likely be billed automatically once a certain hourly limit has been met, or at the end of each work week instead, and in most cases, it is which ever agreement is satisfied by you, the freelancer first.

I hope that this little bit of information helps you to navigate your freelancing website with a bit more confidence, and it is important for you, to make sure as well, that if you are working with a individual on any freelancing website, that you check their work histories, just to see if they have successfully paid others for the work that they have posted before.

Just a heads up for you also, if you take on a job with someone who has a reputation for paying other people on your freelancing website, then chances are you are going to get paid as well, as long as you complete their job, as to their expected satisfaction.

Not only this, but there are contracts set up in place on freelancing websites, which legally oblige a job poster to make a payment once their work has been received, by you, or else you can open a dispute up through the freelancing website for non-payment, and attempt to settle your issue using that feature, as well.

I hope that this helps you out a little bit, and feel free to post back here again if you have any other questions that you would like to ask us, and if there is any more help that is possible for me to offer you, in relations to your questions, then you will receive a reply back from me very shortly after!

    Sincerely Yours,
    Raiel Schwartz
