I wonder how the fireworks look from the space station.

Just got back from an Independence Day party at some friends' house. It was an awesome place to watch fireworks.

A couple of my friends were setting off some minor fireworks for the kids, fountains, Roman candles, bottle rockets, etc, with the occasional medium sized display. Their neighbors on either side were lighting off some big dogs, serious thunder chunkers.

A police officer pops around the back of the house and asks if we're lighting off fireworks. The home owner's wife says, "Why, no, sir, we're just lighting some fountains. Nothing big."

The very next second - BOOM! - my buddy lights off one huge, booming display, the largest he had. The timing couldn't have been worse (or better, for me as a bystander).

Raising a child is akin to knowing you're getting fired in 18 years and having to train your replacement without actively sabotaging them.

      So ... what happened?

Here, handcuffs would be involved. They have really cracked down in the last few years.

I have 2 places to list.

I used to go up to Grand Lake in Colorado every 4th. The scenery is spectacular - and the fireworks are shot above the lake and you can rent a boat and watch them explode right over you or from the beach. Then everyone gathers either at campfires on the beach or in the local pubs for further merriment. It's awesome.

    Second and extremely surprising:
In SW Idaho, about 15 - 20 miles south of Boise, there's a little town of around 200 people called Melba. One of the residents of Melba designs and creates fireworks for global sale. You cannot top the fireworks displays in that little berg. Seriously amazing.
