When did everything become so focused on shortcuts and complex strategies to cheat your way through life. Whatever happened to good old hardwork, without all the focus on shortcuts.

Well there are shortcuts and illegal shortcuts?

I have worked very hard on my flyer business over the last year, and hard work will only get you so far, then strategy will take over!

I don't consider doing a flyer in a day instead of a week to be cheating, just as long as the quality is there.

Nothing wrong with shortcuts, just as long as they are legal and ethical!

Some shortcuts are great but quality must come first, always!

The human race has made machines, computers, systems and software to take the drudgery out of hard work. Soon we will have domestic robots to take a lot more of it away, leaving us free for more cerebral activities. Thats the plan

The reality may be that we just get lazy and out of shape physically.

Except when the power goes off or the batterys start to die, then toys and especially robots go into "Night of the living Dead mode"!

Furbeys, (the new ones, the eyes go weird), battery powered rocking horses, (end's up with a broken neck, no seriously go to a toy shop)!

Waiting for the movie to come out, lol!

Shortcuts are a great way to get the job done more quickly but in this way the quality suffers. So find shortcuts if you can but be careful with the quality

Hard work used to be a necessity, to survive. And for some, it still is. But I never thought of it as a virtue.

    Being smarter isn't cheating.

But even working smarter can fall under the "hard work" umbrella. You don't have to be moving bricks or slaying lions for it to count as hard work.

Let me stop you here - I accept your reply as an acceptable, if not lesser, counter argument.

Thinking is harder for some than others. I'm sorry to hear that it takes so much effort for you.

So, you are equating slaying lions as hard work? As admirable? As something to be applauded?

You disgust me. As always. You have just crossed the lion.

The absolute definition of wishful thinking.

        I think my work here is done. And I didn't break a sweat.......and I didn't kill a lion.

Depending how its done, I'm certain slaying lions is hard work.

Hard work, in and of itself, is neither admirable nor deplorable. It's just work.

You have no idea how long I've waited to read something intelligent from you. I shall put this on my mantle (yes, I assume I have a mantle), and let it remind me...that miracles happen, and dreams really do come true.

You're just saying that because you had to look up "deplorable."

I am, however, happy to be of service. Someone like you probably needs a constant external reminder that dreams can, in fact, come true.

I know dreams can come true. Last night I dreamed that an evil foul smelling troll was going to taunt me about my favorite flavor of ice cream.

I resent that. I never criticize peoples ice cream flavor choices.

My belief about hard work being gone is caused by making so easy and convient. when i was young at 5 and up I was made to work in the cotton fields. my dad planted cotton with one and two row planters. today 10 t0 12 row planters. my dad used muels, today big powerful air condition tractors. when cotton came up we chopped grass and weed out with a hoe. today chemical. takes care of weeds and grass, picking time came, we use pick sacks, picked cotton up to 400 lbs per day, today machine are used. Every other business has been made easier with every kind of improvements. i started working at age 5 so nothing was to hard for me. kids to day dont work at all until at least 16 and if its no air condition or heated they don't anything to do with it. its not their fault. its ours because we wanted things easier and more money

True, first world economies, will shirk unpleasant, hard work, and usually get in immigrants from third world economies, to take those sorts of jobs.

I have seen people working in fish and chip shops on 43 degree days, (bloody hot for US residents).

A bit like going from an oven outside on Keep Warm to their shop which is 200 Degrees hot!

And if l walk up the road to a franchised chicken shop, the air con is on full, and it is cold, eventhough they have a large coal and chicken roasting area!
