      Results of your
      Autism / Asperger's Screening Quiz

You scored a total of 15

You have answered this autism screening in such a way as to suggest that you are not likely currently suffering from an austism spectrum disorder, including Asperger's disorder.
I guess I'm not a bit autistic let alone a full blown one.

I think the higher score comes from a disinterest in chatting socially, or really any social situation. Not discomfort, just disinterest.

I wonder how the scores are different by gender?

My guess is that most women will have lower scores, just because of innate social skills.

Based upon your responses to this autism screening measure, it appears that you are likely suffering from an autism spectrum disorder, or Asperger's disorder. People who score similarly often qualify for a diagnosis of autism or Asperger's.

I've already been diagnosed. I hate labeling things but once I understood what Aspergers and Autism was, and quit dismissing it as another "shrinks paycheck to label kids" I started learning a lot more about myself.

I used to think I was crazy, now I love it. On that test mine came from not being social, being obsessive, loving numbers and data, and having a strict routine. There's a lot more they didn't cover.

I'm not obsessive. Every dollar I make, I relish. Not because I want the dollar, but because it's another dollar that Riffle will never see. The more money I make, the less there is for Riffle.
That's not obsession, just good money management.

As far as a routine, I get up in the morning...think of ways to torment Riffle....eat......torment Riffle....eat....torment Riffle.......eat while tormenting Riffle........eat.....eat more......sleep, and dream of tormenting Riffle.

At least I'm not obsessive about it. (I chew my food before I swallow, so I can't be obsessed)

I scored a 16. With tests like these I often read a statement/question and immediately see 2-3 ways to interpret it, or see unintended subtleties, so I have to try to determine which interpretation is most likely the intended one. That gets easier as I get deeper into the test and get a feel for it, but in the beginning it can be a bit frustrating.

I don't know enough about autism, to give an opinion. But psychopathy is a disorder. It's one I have, but also don't "suffer" from. It made childhood more confusing, but is a real asset in later adulthood.

Anything that restricts brain functioning, in any way, I would think of as a disorder. But for some, it gives great compensations. I've learned to capitalize on mine. (Mostly)

By the way, one difference between Autism and Psychopathy...... You don't like Autism being called a disorder, and I couldn't care less what anyone thinks about Psychopathy.

Autism is not necessarily even a problem or a disorder. Apart from that, overall, I actually kind of agree with your sentiments. Online tests are kind of yucky and it is not my usual form to post one, especially one that uses the word "suffering" in relation to high-functioning autism which is just plain silly. It is not a disease; it is an umbrella term covering a wide range of variants, thus the word "spectrum." Many people on the spectrum aren't suffering or negatively afflicted by it at all. Some, in fact, benefit positively from it, being bestowed with extraordinary gifts.

Somewhat correct. Typically, I just sit there while Claude talks at me.

If I'm with my close friends, I'm the center of the party, loud and engaging. With strangers, work associates, etc., I prefer to sit back and observe. My sense of humor isn't for everyone, so I have to analyze others before letting them in, so to speak. It leads to a strange dichotomy when people from my different social groups meet and compare notes.

(I also don't like talking about myself, so this will meet my quota for the next quarter.)

I'm also quiet until I decide I like someone, and feel they are intelligent. And then, I have the tendency to dominate the conversation (as long as it's about something that interests me). You watch people to evaluate them. I evaluate people by watching reactions to what I say, and how they hold their own. We were still in the "feeling out" process.

I never consciously mean to dominate a conversation, but I usually do. I know it's not an attractive trait.

Most people that visit me (except a handful of close friends), I would avoid lunch with, altogether.

It would be more likely be "The police are arresting you for stealing bread or panhandling on the street which you do since you're not able to adjust to job situations." (For the record, I've never done either)

Autism is not schizophrenia. The conditions may be related (being about brain functions after all) but manifest in very different ways. Many people with high functioning autism are not even aware of it. It is typically more subtle than schizophrenia.

And I never like talking about myself even though I'm doing it right now. So I guess I'll stop, now that I realized it.

You scored a total of 27

I possibly have autism but I was more concerned about the ADHD while taking the damn test that kept asking the same questions in different ways.

13 - I'm not all that social. It's not that I can't be social - just that a lot of things I like to do, I do on my own because I'm also pretty spontaneous and it's hard to find others that are ready to "go" at the drop of a hat.

I, however, took a psychopath test the other day and they told me I am a full blown nut case.

      I just LOVE Internet psychology.

Internet is not usually a reliable way to assess things (but there have been notable exceptions, but that would mostly have a lot to do with who is doing the assessing, if you know what I mean). It can sometimes help point to something. Sometimes even if it looks like something, it still isn't.

According to that test ... i "may be suffering from"
          Which is completely wrong.

Interesting enough - that test had a lot of the same questions some of those security clearance tests have.

I'm sure you don't trust an online test as a reliable way to make an assessment about the workings of your mind. That said, I think it is highly inaccurate to call autism a "disorder." That is, plain wrong. Not all autistic people "suffer" from it. It's a mixed bag for some (eg, me), negative for some, all positive for others. Many benefit from it, not only personally for the person with autism, but society as a whole. Autism often entails great gifts, case in point Jacob Barnett.

The thing about that test is that it might categorize you as a normal social butterfly if you answer the way I did without really going any further than that.

I have more of an academic type of interest in people. I like to study them. I don't care a lot for idle chit chat, but can do it and find it interesting to hear what makes others tick. I don't hate parties and social occasions, but it's more to study people rather than because I think they're fun. I don't normally think they're all that much fun.

On the surface, I make friends easily, but count very few people as true friends. So there's a twist to my answers, but there's not a doubt in my mind that I'm not Autistic or don't have Asperger's syndrome.

Years ago, a personality questionnaire for a dating site picked that up or hinted at it about me. Told me that I liked and cared for people and was social, but said that my interest in people may be more academic than social.

You have answered this autism screening in such a way as to suggest that you are not likely currently suffering from an austism spectrum disorder, including Asperger's disorder.

Autism is not schizophrenia. The conditions may be related (being about brain functions after all) but manifest in very different ways. Many people with high functioning autism are not even aware of it. It is typically more subtle than schizophrenia.

That's the full name of a disorder that is often taken for Autism and has many of the same symptoms but not the same treatment.

              Short name is 22q

The only disorders I would joke about are Claudiculous, Claudophobia, and Claudomania.

Is it Rett's Syndrome? I looked it up.

I can't tell, based on your posts. Is is your hearing? That wouldn't show up in posts.

Other than Schizophrenia or Asperger Syndrome, hearing loss is what I would guess at.
That would affect your social interactions, without affecting your mental abilities.

Nonverbal Learning Disability. It's often confused with Arsperger's.

I'm in the process of getting it checked out, but I'm like 99% sure, especially since the symptoms read like my life story.

Interesting. I've never heard of it. Could you describe some of your reasons for thinking you have this? And why you're sure it's not Asperger?

Autism/Aspergers would have shown when I got tested (once in the 1960's and again in the 1980's).....NLD/NVLD has much more recently been discovered (most research dates back to 1990's IIRC).

Here's a good synopsis of symptoms:

                    What is NLD Syndrome?

As I read through that, it reads like my life story. It's why I'm 99% sure that's my problem.

But as I've said, I'm in the process of getting it diagnosed so until that is finished, I can't be 100% sure of anything.
