Mission Impossible; Rogue Nation

Just watched it today. Maybe the best of all the Mission Impossible movies. Don't blink when you watch it.

Tom Cruise is 53 and still looks 40.....a good 40. Besides the constant action, there is compelling drama, and a tightly written (I never saw that coming) script.

Whatever you think of Cruise, he can sure make movies. And yes, the opening sequence, where he is hanging on the outside of a flying jet? That was really him.

Hmmm, l personally thought that the franchise was running out of steam, but l might take a look!

You were right about the last Terminator film, so....!

But, l might give the Ant Super Hero one a miss!

I like all Cruises Sifi movies (especially the last one) but for some reason have not been compelled to see any of the Mission Impossible ones at the cinema (I saw this got a high score). I suppose it's a case of if you pretty much know the sort of fare your going to get it puts me off.

I like going to movies where you never quite know what your going to get, but I tend to favour Sifi themed or Time Travel ones.

I like Superman movies but not quite so keen on the other stuff like The Avengers or DC characters other than him. Probably because he's a Thoroughbred Alien and not some genetic mutation/experiment or someone who has to wear a suit to enhance themselves. Probably why I like Thor too, he falls into that sort of category.

Yep, just saw it, and it is pretty good overall!

But the one in Dubai or the last one was pretty good as well, so!

But is it worth seeing definitely!

Maybe Claude needs a rating system, (8 out of 10 donuts perhaps)?

There will be no half ratings then and every film will be 10

Just caught this movie tonight. Good fun and yes, probably the best of the MI films so far.

But come on - 13 posts and no mention yet of Rebecca Ferguson? What is up with you guys?

Yeah, she looks alright, but the young teenager girl in San Andreas, with bra issues, is probably higher up on my list?

Always amazed in these movies, that they can trip and fall on cement and get up without a scratch?

Last time l did that, l had a sore knee and blood dripping out of my hand, (and l fell on smooth cement).

I find it bizarre that you find teenage girls with large breasts attractive. I certainly hope you weren't thinking about her in an impure way.

I, personally, haven't seen a teenage girl since I turned 18. They are invisible to me. I went to a high school volleyball game once and it was like the ball was hitting itself. Freaky.

This other time, I went to Claire's to pick up a few sets of cheap earrings my wife likes. There was nobody there to ring me up. Weird.

I can smell them, though. They smell like strawberry lip smacker and disdain.

Raising a child is akin to knowing you're getting fired in 18 years and having to train your replacement without actively sabotaging them.

I love going through the stages of how teenage girls perceive you.

At 18, I was good looking. They were usually attracted to me. Once I spoke, it would either help or hurt.

When I was in my early twenties, they would look at me, and I could tell they were either interested or rejecting me...the same as men do with young women.

After I was in my 30s, they see me as a non-threat, non-prospect, non-male. And yup, they smell of strawberry lip smacker and disdain. (I love that line)

Now, I'm Mister Whitacre. Like Santa Clause....Now, they are nice to me, because they think they will get to Heaven, if they are nice to old people...as long as that old person isn't interrupting their texting.

Someday, Dan.....you'll notice teenage girls treating you better, and talking to you like you're 10 years old. What a thrill.

I'd say MI: Rogue Nation promised and delivered. I thought Ghost Protocol was really really good then came Rogue Nation. The movie was bombarded with action scenes but not in a sickening way. The thing that I liked best in the movie was the ending. Reminded me so much of the TV series.

  • Cruise is ok for a weeny guy.

    Plus, he sure can run.

For an all action guy, he's pretty varied.

Loved him in somea the subtla roles like 4th July and the Grisham one.

Also Oblivion, 'cos that was real atmospheric.

Oh, and Minority Report, for all the swoopy doop tech and those ultra personalised ads.

Not sure what's goin' on with the Scientology deal, but he's made some good movies.

I'll wait for it on NetFlix. I haven't been to a cinema for years.

All that cheering, booing, talking through the film, rustling of chip packets, slurping of drinks, burping and farting that takes place, yuck.

It's a wonder I was never thrown out for doing all those things.

Yes, good movie, but James Bond seems to be going down the same path.

Nothing wrong with that, but l would expect a bit more from the bond franchise?

Hmmmmm, (rolling up my sleeves,...well l am wearing a t-shirt, but it sounds good) no!

The first half l was wondering, l wish Spielberg would get off the attractive, scantily clad woman with bra issues, and make it more civilized. Raiders didn't have this crap in it!

And the second half when she almost bought it,l thought what a waste, enough said!

Nicole Kidman, (previous wife) said that she is very happy after doing a runner, so, some of his beliefs, are f*** up to put it mildly.

Geesh, Whateverpedia, you are poring it on, a bit.

I went to see the Mars one, and apart from a group of a****h*** taking my back seat in the middle, that was the worst!

I also had a Toblerone, and there was some rustling involved.

But they were pretty tame, well, we had the usual, l was the only one laughing, bits, and two kids that had to get past me several times.

Don't drink like a horse or....?

But the seats were reclining and had two buttons, so l was fiddling around with that now and then.

But l usually go and see something after several weeks, so it is virtually empty. Little to no crap then.

But the mass exedus, at the end with, the staff waiting patiently for me to leave because l want to stay til the end credits, sucks.

Some dumb red tape law prohibits them from cleaning up til l have left. I doubt that flying popcorn with give me brain damage, geesh!

          Ok, missed the punchline!

But go and see something at Hoyts, with wide screen, odd's on it will have automatic leather recliner seats, which is pretty cool, and wait til it is almost history to keep the cinema empty.

There's a multiplex cinema which is about a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk away, but that's a Greater Union one. The nearest Hoyts is in the city centre which creates a whole new set of problems getting to. and from, not to mention parking. The best, in fact only way of going to the city is by bus, which adds another set of problems to the whole affair. A Tom Cruise film, no matter how good, just isn't worth the hassle involved.

I don't care about his off screen antics, I've just always found him to be the weakest in any film he's been in. The last one I saw of his was Valkyrie about an attempted assassination ploy on Hitler. Every other actor assumed a German accent for their role to give it some authenticity, except Cruise who used his familiar American accent all the way through. Every time he said something it distracted away from the story.

Having said all that, I notice that the Martian is showing at the local cinema, and as I have some free time on Thursday, I might go and see it. Failing that, I'll wait for the next 007 pic for my next cinema trip.

I've just checked and it turns out that Mission Impossible has already had its run at the local cinema.

I've just checked online and it only seems to be still showing at one cinema in the whole of Australia, and that's at Chatswood in Sydney, which is a really long way to travel. It was a long way to travel even when I was living in Sydney, let alone Perth.
