Default The Philippine Democracy Icon Died Yesterday....

Our Ex-President Corazon Aquino died early morning yesterday due to colon cancer...

I just feel sad that one of the guardians of democracy in our country left us already..

She headed us during the worlds First non-violent people's revolution in 1986. She showed us back then how "strong" we are when we get together as a nation with a common goal, to be free...

May she rest in peace..

She was a great lady. I remember the people power revolution well. RIP Corazon.

One of my first experiences outside the continental U.S. was a 3 day stop in the Philippines when I was in the Navy. I was 19.

The streets were absolutely mobbed with people.

Turns out it was about 1 or 2 weeks after her husband was assassinated.

Even during all of that, I found that the people there were among the friendliest I had ever met. Made me feel right at home.

This is all too sad, I remember watching footage as people rallied to the streets to support Cory Aquino in ousten then dictator of Philippine government, Ferdinand Marcos. How sad it is that she is now gone, she was a great icon of democracy for the world.

R.I.P. never good to lose icons. Especially the political type in these modern times.
