It may be coming back.

The Ford Ranger midsize pickup currently sold in numerous international markets - but not yet in the U.S. (Courtesy Ford Motor Co.)

But that was before gasoline prices plummeted, post-recession buyers again began flocking to pickups - and, most bitingly, rival General Motors (GM) perfectly caught the wave when it returned to the market last fall with its own new line of midsize pickups for its Chevrolet and GMC brands.

Sorry about the small pic.

Very popular here in Oz. Designed by Ford Australia too, I believe.
But I do wish the F series was still sold here.

Ford's also considering bringing back the Bronco.

Raising a child is akin to knowing you're getting fired in 18 years and having to train your replacement without actively sabotaging them.

I've owned Ford Explorers for the past 20 years. Mechanically-speaking, best automobiles I've ever owned. The older ones I had to put in new ball joints. The newer ones, just brakes and batteries.

I don't care for the new Explorers, though. Can't get past the Taurus frame. I'll definitely take a look at a new Bronco, though, as it's supposed to be on a truck frame.

I had a '91 Explorer. The automatic transmission went out at 115K miles, which is typical from what I've heard and read. The front automatic locking hubs also went out, so I replaced those with Warn manual hubs. I liked the vehicle. Good power.

Dan, do you know anything about when the automatic transmissions started lasting longer?
(I still have to replace my Subaru that was totaled by a drunk driver.)

My understanding is you want something newer (I originally said older - that was a brain fart) than '04. I've read that some people have problems with the '05.

I plan to run the cojones of this one as we just replaced the car last year and I abhor multiple car payments.

(I had a '91 Eddie Bauer - at least I'm pretty sure it was a '91, might've been a '93, those years are a little foggy. That was the worst one. Of course, I bought it with about 134k on it. It went through ball joints like sticks of bubblegum. The rest have been smooth sailin'.)

FORD= fast on race day lol

BRONCO = Worst team I ever watched - except when they win.

Back at High School graduation party, guys were arguing about Ford, Chevy, Dodge..
My friend through out Mazda as a joke. The guys carried on arguing about that for about another ten minutes.

    ------------

I was wondering when the smaller trucks were coming back. I read a few years ago that they were
going to bring back the small size trucks - like the first Ranger and Toyota trucks...

I'm still waiting for the small trucks with the 4 cylinder diesel engines to come to the US.

If I got a Ford, this is the one I want (but I have a very nice Dodge Ram at the moment)

    Buyer's remorse already?

I don't know about the other brands, but I had a customer whose brand new Ford diesel started
right up, just like a car, in 20 below weather. It was not plugged into an engine block heater, and there
was no pumping the gas pedal or waiting for the glow plugs.

Got a video of what you rigged up for the boat?

No ... not really. I love the truck but if I could have afforded to buy 2015 from showroom, I would have opted for the Ford I showed or a new Dodge Ram 2500. But I really am happy and I don't have a car payment.

I bought a little 2-3 person boat that fits right into the pickup bed. No trailer needed. I may go bigger at another time, but I've never driven a large truck hauling a boat and trailer behind and the word jack knife keeps popping up in my mind. lol.

I can see my first trip to lake ... ok ... backing up now ... [demolish two parked trucks]. Whooops ... so sorry.

Around here when it comes to trucks ... size matters. lol

Are you still going to rig up some kind of winch and pulley system to get the boat into the bed?
(I'm sure there will always be helpful guys around though.)

I did buy a winch. It was rated for 2,000 lbs. It failed to hoist up the boat. I returned it so I'm back to the drawing board on that and just getting [guys] to help by looking helpless. lol.
