Just wanted to let you all know I'll be heading out for...Edit per Riffle's suggestion: (An undisclosed location for camping somewhere in the great state of Michigan) in a few hours, so I will be absent for a few days.

We're going with my daughter, her fiance', and Lexi of course.

You all have fun this weekend too and pay no mind to my silence.

Vacation of course, but Shhhhhhh! on the sick word wouldja?

The last thing I want nor need is an allergy flare up while I'm trying to have fun camping and lazily cruising down the river in a pontoon boat all day.

Terra, didn't your family have a stalker issue last year? You might want to redact the name of the campground.

Of course, I'm paranoid, but it doesn't mean I'm wrong.

      Thanks Dan,

I think I will although the stalker (from 2 years ago) in question has no way to follow us.

        Terra,
Sounds like so much fun. I bet the weather up there is starting to feel nice ??

Still hot as hell down here in San Antonio but feeling nice because of low humidity today and tomorrow.

After dropping girls off at school at 7 am , I went and played 18 holes of disc golf for over an hour.

Just beautiful to be out and playing . God is good

Starting to feel nice is right, but because we had a cold front move in and last all week with highs only in the low to mid 60s and overcast skies, but upper 70's today and tomorrow and lower 80s for Sunday is the forecast.

          Ahhhh! I need my sunshine!

      Haha!

You couldn't pay me to go there! I had a scary experience over there when I had my women's fashions business and did a show out that way and got lost after the fashion show was over!

Scary, dangerous place that one is!

            Squidward, what?

No, l have an English/Aussie accept, and don't say mate that often!

Yes, most in our outback population have dry as hell humor, have to to live out there!

Nope, we roughed it. Here's our tent...

We didn't do the pontoon boat down the river because it was overcast on Saturday and I only like boat rides when it's sunny. We went and visited my sister who was up at her cottage in Houghton Lake. It was only an hour and a half away, lol! It was a nice day trip anyway.

But Lexi had a blast digging a deep hole...

and we had fun belting out old classic rock tunes to the stereo as we sat around the campfire and we did some photo shoots for the fun of it, haha!

Living in the city as a chair hugging millenial, I can't imagine me surviving out in the country with big bugs and nasty stuff.

I'd have to sanitize the entire tent 100x over, and get one of those mechanical mosquito repelants.

You never know what these things carry nowadays. It could drop some eggs on me, or I can bring bed bugs home.

It's pretty cool. See the dark grey top? It comes completely off and the whole ceiling is screen so you can "sleep under the stars" if you want. We didn't because it was too chilly at night.

I had an electric blanket on top of our raised queen sized air mattress and a stand up oscillating heater going instead, lol!

Man ... that is some tent. Let's see ... queen bed, oscillating heater, electric blanket. Is that considered camping? lol. I might have to give it a try, as I've never been one to like roughing it much.

I thought the same thing about the tent - where are the shutters? and window boxes?

Terra - I spent a day last week with my brother and his wife at a state park campground. They were camping with their 2 dogs and it was so laid back and peaceful I just wanted to live there.

I really liked their camper - plenty of space and easy to tow. I could live in it.

It's a "hybrid" - small to tow and store but good size when opened up as beds are queen sized. My brother had the awning out and they have a 9x12 outdoor rug for the ground under the awning. Quite a setup!

Oh yeah! I have to have some luxuries, lol! We have a fold up table and upon it is the coffee pot. Gotta have my coffee just the way I like it. I also had an electric skillet and griddle for cooking.

was actually asked, "What altitude do deer become elk?". LOL

Motor home? I knew hubby would figure out a way to fill up the acreage. Do they come in pink?

I've always thought why not rent one for the weeks you want one. Allergies might make that difficult.

With the allergies, are you able to stay at hotels? Some and not others?

I occasionally have guests who can't stay because of their allergies, or other sensitivities. I've learned
that there are some people who always sleep on top of the hotel bedding and bring their own blankets-
                            they are a bit germophobic.

                            Dan
Well, hubby's reasoning for a motor home makes sense. It would be easier for Lexi to travel. We'd have a trailer to tow the car behind us. Anyway, that's what sold me.

But he has another reason too. It makes it easier to stay at the racetrack when he races too. We'd be right at the pit when we wake up rather than having to travel from the hotel and I can sleep in a bit later, lol!

As far as hotels, some are bad, some not so much. I always bring my ionizer with me to hotels and we always keep the do not disturb sign out so housekeeping won't come in and vacuum while we stay.

No pink, but I really like the one's with turquoise or even forest green. No poop brown ones allowed, lol!

But hubby said if we bought a 5th wheel or pop up trailer, etc. we'd also have to buy a new truck too. So we'll just get one with a motor, lol!

That's a shame. I'm not saying that camping means one has to always suffer. However, appreciating how hard our ancestors had it for just the basics like staying warm at night is something everyone should experience. Things like warmth is something people today take for granted.

Oh, don't think I never have, when we went camping when I was a kid, we were totally reliant on nature for everything. My dad wouldn't have it any other way.

I loved it as a kid, but then I grew up into a girlie girl.

                            Hair dryer, too?

Pink and chrome engine parts would be cool.

You don't need to trailer the car. Talk him into one of these:

Yep, hair dryer too and it is pink chrome, haha! But no curling iron. That was roughing it, lol!

That is cool! But we're just going to stick to the typical little trailer that holds the front of the car up and the rear tires roll along. What ever they're called.

But hubby said if we bought a 5th wheel or pop up trailer, etc. we'd also have to buy a new truck too. So we'll just get one with a motor, lol!

I actually use an air purifier made by Kenmore. You can use just the ionizer on it, or just the air purifier or both. It has hepa filters too. I always use it every night for sleeping and have it set up in the family room by day. I love it!

Ha! I'm sure he does, but so do I. Namely, a swimming pool with decking around it, and a matching tiki bar that will include a smoothie maker.

I only have a two star hotel, but it's still considered camping because you're over 8000 feet.
Also, at that altitude, chocolate has no calories and deer become elk.

I'm glad the trip went well.

Actually, I told hubby I want to go to Colorado and he said we're getting a motor home first. We're going to purchase one in the spring, lol!

That is a five star tent.

It might be urban legend ... er, mountain legend, but supposedly a Forest Ranger
was actually asked, "What altitude do deer become elk?". LOL

I like the motor home idea. I like to travel and now with a motor-home, I always know where I will be staying and can have it just the way I want it. It'll be my home away from home.

I liked that idea more so than getting a cottage somewhere too, because then I'd always go to the same place all the time. Boring! I like to explore different places, see the sites, visit the local museums and learn about the place's history. I learn more that way than I ever did in schools.

We do allow pets here. Try very hard to keep pets in the pet friendly rooms because of allergies or the strong preferences of the guests that don't want pet rooms.

A nearby hotel is having a problem with guests who abuse the service dog or support dog category
to avoid paying the pet fee and/or just to get their pets into a room.

Hotels can ask if the service animal is trained for them and what does it do for them. So far, I'm good because we have enough pet rooms that we don't have to challenge anyone.
