Trans-humans being developed for an army.

Have you ever seen the show: SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN? Well, what is often science fiction is later developed into reality.

I wonder if these men will need Viagra?

U.S. Super Soldiers Of The Future Will Be Genetically Modified Transhumans Capable Of Superhuman Feats

I looked up DARPA revealed in the article above and I found these below:

LOL, reading thought is a long lost art, don't have to mess with genetics to pull that one off!

But it sounds like some will come back from war, and go nuts!

Maybe we need a Superhero club, on standby?

Exciting time we are living in.

Waiting for this to become available to the public and all the business opps that would come as a result.

Tagiscom, I may not be on the same page with you with aliens, but this is the next best thing. I could be the generation that lives in the sci-fi world.

If DARPA releases some technology to the public that can cure autism or related mental disorders, I'll take that ship with you to the next available earth-like planet,

Actually I think they have that covered.

        WAY TO GO!

FIRST, define a SYNDROME using arbitrary mix and match criteria!
SECOND, make it a goto SYNDROME for various people wanting money, special treatment, or a get out of jail free card.
THIRD, allow and support quacks that can REDEFINE the SYNDROME as its OPPOSITE!
        FOURTH, gradually BROADEN the criteria.
FIFTH, INCREASE the statistics, WITHOUT stating that the above have been done, and use it to make this arbitrary, and now meaningless syndrome, look like a DISEASE that is an EPIDEMIC!
SIXTH, claim there is a cure for this disease that IS AND ISN'T X,Y, and Z!

SEVENTH, sit back and watch the mayhem as you rake in the cash! SURE many will call it a scam on one side, but the others may say THANK YOU, ****THANK YOU**** on the other side.

So where is AS in this?
FIRST? A GIVEN, look at the DSM!
SECOND? OBVIOUSLY! Look at the cases like "Colleen Shipman"'s There are others that are more clearly not AS, but the point is made.
THIRD? Look at the books and "experts". HECK, look at "daniel tammet", who DOES fit autism criteria, and the kid of the "autism speaks", that doesn't.
FOURTH? EARLIER, people like DT, and CS were SPECIFICALLY excluded, and now they AREN'T!
FIFTH? Such new inclusion and benefits, 2 and 5, OBVIOUSLY greatly increase statistics but are NEVER mentioned with them!
SIXTH? See the article linked in this post.

SEVENTH? A GIVEN! Again, see the article, and autism speaks!

BTW since people keep speaking about SCI FI as the impetus for such things, why do people NEVER look at the WARNINGS?

Let's take star trek! In the classic one, and TNG, they had at LEAST one episode dealing with this. TNG spoke of enhanced warriors used to fight that had to be DESTROYED after used in the military. Many weren't, or escaped, and they were at war with the culture, and the enterprise group had to try to unify them. OH SURE, it was more of desire and fear, but it was, has been, and always will be there.

And the classic? OH, it is easy to disregard the episode where they merely found an old ship, and revived some of the "humans" to see who they were, and maybe a few others after that, etc.... They turned out to be humans with enhanced intelligence, strength, and aggression that wanted to rule all they could conceive. I forget what they were called, but their leader was named KHAN! YEP, the very same! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khan_Noonien_Singh

And what of MACHINES? MAN, it is ALL OVER everything!

But THINK about it! If you make a group of people that are personally so superior, wars may just keep getting worse. Look at the atomic bomb. If the US were the only one that had it, the US, and hopefully the world, should have been at peace for SOOOOOOO long! But with the world having the bomb, EVERYONE knows that their country could be obliterated within an hour.

        ******BULL*******! Look at WWII!

        Think of the Internet.
*****NON SEQUITOR*****! The Internet was developed in the 70s, with NO wars, by AT&T! YEP! They brought us UNIX, which created POSIX, C, which later brought us C++ and so many other things, and NETWORKING.

We ALREADY have kids that run Olympic speed! If people could "telepathically transmit knowledge", the "teaching" business, as schools know it would be DEAD! AND, frankly, any ability to "teach" is HEAVILY MISUSED!

You missed my point ENTIRELY! I was saying that new methods, laws, etc.... to facilitate "teaching" are formally abused in many ways. The closer they get to push, and a broad scope, the worst it will be. One conspiracy theory, they had DECADES ago, was that RUSSIA was using some beam to propagandize america from russia. I doubt that is true, ESPECIALLY since the FACT is that they have brainwashed many that are spread around the planet, INCLUDING the US, and THEY are trying to push things towards a USSR type model. I could tell you some of the major players involved, but that would be too "political" which ITSELF is part of the scam. Anyway, half of the people here may say "Well DUH!", and the other half may say "NO WAY", belittle, or get VERY VERY VERY upset!

Anyway, creatures were designed to mostly learn in a kind of PULL fashion, which is the major reason why any knowledge of worth tends to vary so much between different people. It requires an action or willing exposure/need of that person. AND, interestingly enough, the USSR type model basically FORBIDS that type of thing. If you should ask the wrong question, state the wrong fact, or earn something extra as a consequence, the punishment can vary from a fine to a long talk to loss of all you have to a long painful death.

              Yes I know your point.

              My point is simple.

Anything can be abused, but that doesn't mean we shouldnt advance.

As long as the human race exist their will always be the risk of something or someone being misused or abused.

Does anyone start to read the first line of Steve's (seasoned) posts, and then suddenly find your eyes dropping 10 or 20 lines (whatever) down without reading any more, to the next post in the thread? Or is it just me?

BTW, interesting thread OP, but as Claude said, it's pretty much a fantasy article at the present time. Good, really interesting news is in short supply at the moment so article writers muse about future possibilities. That is until Putin decides to flex his action man muscles in the direction of the West again, then we have column inches to peruse.

Sometimes, I see a post by Steve, and my eyes just bounce off. Like the first sentence shocks my brain, and I reflexively look away.

Other times, I'll read a sentence or two. and then I'm trapped. The more I try to decipher what he's trying to say....the deeper I get sucked in. Eventually, it becomes a black bottomless pit of disjointed pieces of random thoughts....from which there is no escape.

The posts that really get me, are the ones right after Steve posts, asking him what he means...or worse...much worse...trying to argue with him. I feel sorry for these people. They will never be the same.

I've done it. I've tried to debate with Steve. But only a few times, and only when I was younger and stronger. Now I'm a broken man. Sitting on my porch, thinking, "I remember when the world made sense, before I read Steve's posts." And now, I just wait for the sweet silence of death.

On the highway of life, the roadside is littered with the rotting corpses of rational people who have tried to debate with Steve. Their minds broken, they could no longer fend for themselves.
