I did think EZA was ezinearticles but wanted to make sure.

I am not writing this post for this forum. I am doing it for a local group in Facebook.
Most of the scams are real, not just one person's opinion because I am using REAL examples such as the emails regarding "dead relatives" which most people know are scams.

Maybe I should have clarified that in my first post in here. I am certainly not looking for the "he said, she said" types of scams. I am trying to find the "real world" scams, many of which may only be targeting Australians.

Does that make sense?

In the US anyway, there is a used car buying scam on Craig's list. Probably other sites. Supposedly Russian gangsters are behind it. Nice car or truck at a very low price because the seller is in the military. Car will be shipped to the buyer through the Military's system. I think the buyer pays ahead through PayPal, and the vehicle is never delivered. It plays of some things that are semi-truthful.
US Military members do get a little discount on car purchases. I think they do ship cars for free when the soldier is assigned to another base (if so, I'm pretty sure it would be from one base to another and personal use only.)

In the hotel industry, there is a scam where by email they try to reserve several rooms for a week or two. They try to pay ahead and then cancel the reservation and want a refund on whatever they've paid. I'm guessing they would pay with fraudulent methods and want the refund to their bank or credit card. I don't know- we don't collect until check in and never take credit card numbers by email.

Ha, when I read the title I was thinking you wanted to write a 'scam' article as a cleverly deployed affiliate linking method or similar...

My answer was going to be... do not do it... Personally I HATE reading an article that is somehow using SCAM X Company to create links to another you are personally in etc... I guess I'm not much for mud slinging... it just gets everyone dirty. lol

But the fact that you are writing an article, one I would assume to be well researched etc.. and not using steriotypical reactions to MLM, Networking, etc... as I see some writers do, then awesome, more power to you!

I don't really have any 'scams' to report personally with a personal story, i.e. it actually happened to me... so I won't add to the rumor mill by naming any XYZ companies which people do talk about.

I'm aware of a massive dating scam that makes the owners approx $8 million a year via Adwords. I have informed Google about the scam at least 10 times over the course of 2 years. To this day they are still allowed to advertise despite violating numerous terms. My next step is to contact TV shows/news stations in the US and see if an investigative reporter will show any interest as it is a massive scam.

There's a lot of job scams on Craigslist. They are always out of country - or in another state, usually overseas though. They want to send you a check for your services (whatever they might be) then you cash the check, and take what they owe you and deposit the rest of it elsewhere. Anything that offers to pay more than you have earned can be viewed as a scam.

Another one that is similar is "research". They give few details on the research, but I sent my resume once because it sounded like a good gig - I've done professional research and they were vague enough to make me inquire for further info. Instead of answering my inquiry questions - they just sent me this majorly huge check and told me I'd be "investigating" Western Union. I was to cash the check (which probably would have cost me my bank account had I tried) then take everything not owed to me and send it via Western Union to a specified address. I don't remember much else about it. I just took the letter and check to the fraud dept of my bank and left it with them and then sent them my previous contact email to them. Never checked on the status because nothing took place other than them mailing me a check and me taking to the fraud dpt of my bank.

Sal, I have heard of all those scams. It seems there are so many out there and, sadly, people do fall for them all because they're desperate for money or they simply don't realise they are scams.

The Western Union one is huge. I remember being contacted in a similar matter. I took it to my bank as well, so they could deal with it.
