Not 100% sure, but I think this is the boldest act in the history of the Internet.

Old news, we already knew that. Apart from taking up a little bit of space on your zillion gig hard drive it does nothing unless you ask it to be installed.

I'm not adding it even if it has been downloaded, which I've not done myself.

I did the update. During the 2 hours it took to install, a messsge was shown stating "Some of your old apps may not work in Win10)"

I don't have any "apps" just @#$ing hardware and software!!!

Anyway, the install finally completed and lo and behold, they were right. A lot of my "apps" didn't work including my modem and graphics card.

Despite having a graphics card less than a year old, and a 27" monitor, the highest screen resolution I coul get was 640x480. I reinstalled the drivers for the card, and even then the best I could get was 1024x768. Nothing I did could get the modem to work.

Sp after 3 hours installing Win10, an hour trying to get my "apps" to work, and another hour to uninstall Win10, I'm back on my tried and trusted Win7 platform. And that is where I'll stay until I upgrade my system (no pans on doing that in the near future as it looks like I'll have to replace everything).

FFS, this is the first version of Windows that doesn't have backwards compatibility. What the hell were they thinking?

Why do garden gnomes smell so bad?
So that blind people can hate them as well.

Wow, you went through the horse there. Apps are the new trendy name for software, any software. Perhaps you had some very old versions of programs that just about worked under 7.

Perhaps what you should have done was get the latest drivers for sound, graphics etc before upgrading. How old was your machine? What is your machine, a home brew? I say that because you indicated a replacement of the graphics card?

My Dell is 6 months old and no such problems. A new machine (eventually) with ten as standard seems to be the only option. You already have the nice big monitor.

I will tell Cortana you are looking forward to meeting her someday.

She already indicated she loved ME when I asked her though. "There's a definite spark between us" she said What more proof do you need. I bet she says that to all the guys.

Raising a child is akin to knowing you're getting fired in 18 years and having to train your replacement without actively sabotaging them.
