Hi Guys,

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, but i wasn't sure where to post it.

Basically, I'm a teacher and I'm looking to start a website which will help teachers discover apps that can be used in the classroom.

Appedia - Because an App a day keeps Ofsted at Bay is the site.

I've been using snapshots to help show what teachers have to do and the app Icon to help them understand what to look for in the app store.

However, I've started to worry I'm breaking the law and using copyrighted images with the app icons. I did hear about the Fair Use law but don't know if that applies here, I am only giving positive unforation as well about each app.

Just wondering if anyone can shed any light on this, I've seen other websites using the icons as well and wondered how they got away with it. Surely they haven't contacted every single app owner for permission?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I would advise you to do one of two things, or both:

    1. Consult an attorney. Forum opinions are a poor substitute for professional advice.

    2. Contact the companies who own the apps you want to feature and ask their permissions to use an image/icon. Most will let you as long as they believe what you want to do will be beneficial to them. I've had success with that approach with one-person businesses to companies as large as (and including) Google.
