Any Decent Mobile Hotspots And Plans Still?

I just realized the mobile hotspot company I was using, Clear, is closing down... they offered a mobile hotspot for $55/month unlimited data. Now all these other companies I see (AT&T, Sprint, Verizon) ALL seem to be offering insane rip-off "data" plans, where it's like $110 for 18 GB.

Average internet users use about 35 GB a month, and I know I use about that or more, so there's no way in hell I can afford even their most expensive plans, because I'll get billed about $1,000/month in overage charges.

Does anyone know of any good mobile hotspot/mobile USB companies out there with reasonable unlimited data plans, or is that just a thing of the past now that Clear was bought out by Sprint, and Sprint has decided to shut it down?

Best,
-Cam

    Cam,

I think that business model is going away.

Let me ask if you need 35 gigs of high-speed WiFi every month? I have unlimited Internet on my phone which can be (and I have) used as a hot-spot device. The first gig is 4G-LTE speed. You can pay more and get more high-speed data.

In the UK, the Three network recently used to have a plan called the "One Plan" which gave you unlimited data via mobile hotspot for just £15/month, which is about $25/month.

Three ended the plan this year because lots of people were using it as a home broadband replacement and using about 100 GB+ data per month, so it was using too much capacity on the network and slowing it down for other users.

I think the increase in data usage in general with many people now using video streaming services and other things such as downloading large game updates on games consoles as well as the fact that the cost of transferring data over a mobile device is more expensive than it is for land line ISPs means it's no longer feasible for mobile networks to offer unlimited data plans via hotspots.

Cricket has 10GB for $55 then 3G LTE unlimited from there. The 3G was like 85 kB/s download, wasn't terrible, but I wouldn't run my business off of it.

Honestly, yes, I do need 35+ gigs of High Speed, though Clear used to be unlimited 3g, then upgraded to 4g, but I found the 3g worked fairly well, so I could get by with unlimited 3g. Though, I don't actually have a smartphone, I'm asking about mobile wifi hotspots/usb devices.

That's not a bad deal. That's for mobile hotspot/usb devices right, not Smatphones? That's actually reasonable..

No, you have to have a hotspot capable smartphone. They've got a few under $100 I think.
