History in high school. Always amazed at how we have advanced in technologies but not in being civilized.
Soil Science in college.The more you learn about soil the more you understand just how important it really is.

Seriously, I loved science. But I can't remember if I was interested in it before high school. I had an amazing high school science teacher. It wasn't that he knew a lot about science. It's that he made us figure out how things worked on our own. He would ask us in depth questions, until we figured out how some scientific principle worked.

He would take his lunch and spend it with about 6 of us sciency nerdy kids. He forced us to think, rather than just memorize facts. He made us objectively examine everything we thought we knew about science. Even then, I knew that he was teaching us something incredible.

Maybe 20 years later, I was selling in someone's home...and he was retired from teaching, doing some kind of remodeling on the home. I recognized him, and told him who I was. He remembered me. I told him how much he improved the way I thought.

The homeowners talked about him like he was nobody. They had no idea what a hero he was. Mister Snyder. I never learned his first name.

I couldn't stand it in high school

I took one day of biology and switched to business math.
The teacher I had for history, like your science teacher made it incredibly interesting.
But my father really had the biggest influence on me with both history and science. He got me into reading at a very young age. That helped turn history into interesting stories instead of boring facts. He also learned to be a refrigeration engineer by getting the books, reading them and applying what he learned. Learning how to do that from him was an incredible aid with soil science and practically everything else I've done.

School sucked. I learned a lot more after I left than I enjoyed learning while I was there. My highest grade was a B and that was in Religious Education.

Rocks, solar systems, bones and blood are parts of my favorite subject — science. Science is fun to learn about, and you get to do some really fun experiments. At my school, I just finished learning about the body, and now I am learning about the solar system. Science is fun and educational, but we all know it can be unexciting sometimes. We learned about how our body works, and how we stay healthy. Now I am learning about the solar system and the layers of earth. That is why it’s my absolute favorite subject in school.

I attended the same school as "Mr Bean"/Blackadder (Rowan Atkinson) so I used to like drama. Geography was the subject I liked the most, especially US geography. Latin was my least favourite subject.

Mine was Computer Studies but, that was only because of the timing. I started to study Computer Studies in around 1982 and at this time the school had a handful of computers - most of which you needed lifting equipment to move around. The Computer Studies teachers were teachers "borrowed" from the maths and physics departments who had no experience of computers other than as a hobby.

A group of us had computers at home (ZX81's Spectrums etc) and probably had more computing than the school. So we ended up in this strange situation where teachers and pupils were teaching each other and helping each other. We helped them understand the course notes before teaching it in a class.

I also met my first wife in those computer study lessons.

My Computer Studies teacher, Mr Ireland, was also my maths teacher and my cross country coach. A rare and remarkable teacher.
