The GOLD at WF...from this week.

Well, OK then; contrarian, curmudgeon and combatant...I gladly accept.

But, I don't think you have to dive back into yesteryears to find a lot of gold here, sure, maybe a little harder, maybe a little less on the surface....BUT...

There are four posts made this week, which combined, offer up a mini course on IM with actionable steps. And rather than bemoan the demise (a personal choice)...

I'd rather THANK those members who continue on, press forward, and spend their time giving us the nuggets which make it worth our while to come here.

So, this week, GREAT posts from Tom Addams, Jason Kanigan, James Farren and someone else. I probably should link to these, and maybe I will later...

but, I had to find them, which is sort of my point.

Today, right now, in 2015, the October month...I (with 35 years of online experience)...have found GOOD, and EVEN GREAT...

advice, information, how to, and actionable intelligence...

right here, on the Titanic.

Maybe I'm playing the fiddle in the dance band...

BUT, I don't think the WF is a lost cause,

yet.

There is still a little problem. The newer members of WF won't necessarily be able to determine who has the gold and who doesn't. Even when I joined WF after lurking a good while, it still took a bit of time to determine who actually had real knowledge and the ones that gave lousy advice.

To add to that confusion, a noob has to know first that what you need to do changes rapidly (i.e., Google stirring the pot, etc.) while many basics will stay the same.

30 years ago, we had the same problem, trying to figure out who in the Biz-Op world had the gold, cause there was a LOT of fool's gold back then.

The onus for discernment is on the Noob, it is part of her or his journey, as it is in real life too. Even then, we are often led by our early encounters, ones which resonate with us.

So, this problem is not one of the forum, but a universal problem of life.

Wow, great post. Yes, there is a TON of fools gold on here. The WF is fool of a lot of people with a lot of time on their hands and a lot of bad intentions. If a person is new, he is truly in a very scary position on the internet, and especially in this forum. There are a lot of good people out there, but it takes time and investigation to find them. Most people that gravitate to making money on the internet or setting up a business of any kind on the internet, are in a mindset that it is different than setting up a brick and mortar business. Well it is to a degree, but only that. There still is a capitol investment required (whether it is monitary or of human effort), there is still a time element, there is still a "location, location, location" element to it, and there is still a ton of risk. If you don't know what you are doing, you need to find those people that do and that is like spitting in the wind, for people that want quick results.

Here is the thing from your post I have the biggest problem with, over and over and over...:

Most people that gravitate to making money on the internet or setting up a business of any kind on the internet, are in a mindset that it is different than setting up a brick and mortar business.

I DON'T KNOW what MOST peoples mindset is.

It is a battle I take on, the assumption, that anyone who tosses either absolutes or "most people" around, is righteous in itself.

To lump everyone, or MOST together in a pile is unfair to any given person whose mindset I have no idea about.

BUT, I do agree with your post. And TIME vs Money has always been at the forefront of the biz-op and make money battlefield.

It helps to know who to ignore, but as a guy with over 10,000 posts (you), I guarantee you've spent a lot more time here than I have.

What ever is your time limit, and how much time you spend, is none of my business.

But my 15mins to 1/2 an hour is spent wisely, and I save a lot of time by not posting on every thread I read too, try it, you might like it.

      gjabiz

PS. Had I spent several days, the information in those four measly posts may have saved me or someone years of struggle, but, again, I'm not one to tell anyone how to spend their time, fair enough?

LOL - YOU are telling Big Mike the value of the forum? Ha. He has put more info into individual posts throughout his time in this forum than you will find searching pages of the forum from the last year and combining it all. If you want to save some real time searching a forum that is now almost empty of value - just search for Mike's old posts. He gave some of the best info in here.

When did you all get such thin skin?

So what, a few smart asses.

But, I resent your dismissive attitude toward those that are still contributing.

You say: Nobody with the real experience and expertise is bothering anymore

And I call bull shit on you, UNLESS you are saying that

Jason Kanigan, Claude Whitacre, Tom Addams, Randall Magwood, Steve B, Ewen Vile, Raydal, Kay King...and dozens of others who have posted...

          Who ARE participating everyday...

in spite of the smart asses, in spite of the influx of noobs...these people,

Whom you are disparaging by saying they are nobodies with Real expertise...they do bother.

They bother to respond, and they don't sit down here and whine and bitch and mourn the death of the forum, like so many of you do...

So, Big Mike is worn out, you can't take the smart asses who ask for advice and then cuss you out, the old saying...no good deed goes unpunished.

My point...of the post...was to show there is still value here....

And those of you that want to sit down here and wish for the good old days which are never coming back....NEVER..and comfort yourself in tens of thousands of posts...are free to do so

          UNTIL WF eliminates this subforum...

BUT, some of us, despite your crass characterization of us as being nobodies with real experience...are going to go on.

AND, give value, as at least four posts did this week, REAL Value, real world advice, real experience shining through while you all join hands in this oh wo is us, circle jerk of "good old days"...have at it.

Why bother coming here? You are free to do so, keep down here and let those of us who choose to participate do so.

AGAIN, MY thanks to those of you who have posted quality threads this week. If you need the last word down here, be my guest. I've said my piece.

If I remember correctly Claude recently took a voluntary vacation from this place because of the outstanding quality.

Sorry to be one of those smartasses, because I get and respect what you're trying to do here. But you haven't shown anything, you've merely said.

Silly Rabbit. I think of this as the sandbox. We tease each other, and we throw sand at each other. But there is an adult table too.

First, thank you for including me in the list. There is some incredible talent to be found in the Offline forum, and a few other places.

But, to be fair, in the Off topic Forum, there is more clowning around than in the business forums. For example, I come here for entertainment, and to make an occasional serious philosophical discussion. But in the Offline Forum, I'm there to really help, and so are most of the contributors.

And that's where you'll find the more serious discussions...Business discussions, I mean.

Again, the video forum, writers forum, and copywriting forums have serious contributors as well. I don't go to the main forum or the Mind Warrior forum (my last visit resulted in a hospital stay)

If you are coming to the Off Topic Forum, looking for serious marketing advice, you came to the wrong place.

But I've read better advice in the Offline Forum (on sales and marketing) than I've read in any books or courses on the subject. We have some real players here.

I know that in the Offline Forum, frauds and fakes are exposed very quickly and harshly.

Here, we're mostly just relaxing, and teasing each other.

Is where the rich drop their pearls of wisdom, eh? Must be for the fat pigs in the pen, but continue, cast and cast some more.

It is said, pig farmers grow to like the smell, so even if they ain't raising, they like to drive by the farms and take a deep whiff.

PS. Again, a guy with 17,000 posts has to have a few that were not drive by, I hope? A lot of time spent in dumpster alley.

        Your metaphor is severely flawed.

Hog farmers don't grow to like the smell, they tolerate the smell & barely profit after expenses.
