I noticed a Fargo first season marathon and heard that the second season premiere was last night ...

So I caught the marathon (most of it) and watched the premier. First season was dynamite ... loved the evilness of Billy Bob .... second season looks promising, although it begins 27 years before where the first season left off. No Billy Bob.

I think I have a new series to love.

I haven't watched the TV show, but have heard good things about it.

Heck if it's as good as the movie of the same name, I'm in.

EDIT TO ADD: One of the other streaming services available Down Under (Stan - don't ask me why it's called that) not only has the movie but also the TV show. It's also the only outlet here for Better Call Saul. So anyway I'm about half way through the final episode of S5 of The Walking Dead, and it looks my next viewing binge-fest is Fargo.

      Suzy,
I just heard about it. Is it in anyway similar or a spin off of sorts from the original movie back in the 90s ?

I try to add to the Community as much as I can. Although Iam not an Einstein, I feel like I can hold my own

Fargo the series feels exactly like the movie. Same pacing, style, strangeness. I've got them all DVRd and only halfway through. The point I'm at just connected to the movie's plot officially. If you love the movie you will love the show.

Holy sheise. That site is awesome. It's also got the HBO shows that aren't on Netflix, Stan or free to air here.

I may never leave the house again.

C'mon, admit it. You'd miss me. If I was gone all you'd have left here would be Dan Riffle and Kurt. Do you really want that?

Actually, you're one of the most intelligent and funny people here.

You would be missed by most of us, I think. Certainly by me.

    Here's what wikipedia says:

Fargo is an American anthology black comedycrime drama television series created and primarily written by Noah Hawley. The show is inspired by the 1996 film of the same name written and directed by the Coen brothers, who serve as executive producers on the series. It premiered on April 15, 2014, on FX.[1] Each season follows an anthology format, being set in a different era along with a different story, cast and set of characters.
The first season, starring Billy Bob Thornton, Allison Tolman, Colin Hanks, and Martin Freeman was met with considerable acclaim.[2] It won the Emmy Awards for Outstanding Miniseries, Outstanding Directing and Outstanding Casting, and received fifteen additional nominations including Outstanding Writing, another Outstanding Directing nomination, and acting nominations for Thornton, Tolman, Hanks, and Freeman. It also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Miniseries or Television Film for its first season as well as Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Miniseries or Television Film for Thornton.
On July 21, 2014, FX renewed Fargo for a ten-episode second season, which premiered on October 12, 2015.[3]
It is the same type of show ... dark thriller/comedy and the first season was outrageous. Loved it. I'm going to buy the DVD because I missed some of the episodes and want to watch it all again.

Loved the first season. Yeah Billy Bob Thornton was great in it.

This year, all new cast, all new story. If you liked Twin Peaks, you'll love this. Weird, quirky, and I can't look away.

To me, it almost defies description, it's so weird.

^^^^ good description. Never saw Twin Peaks though, but I won't be missing this second season.

I almost checked out early on during the premiere. The bombardment of 70's film trope was a distraction from the actual story. Then Kirsten Dunst's batshite crazy character showed up and I was in.

Season 1 was a blast. Billy Bob and Martin Freeman together = inspired casting.

This is disappointing. We're going to need you to correct this oversight immediately.

I didn't understand the beginning (old film shooting of western).
The shooting at the diner pulled me in.

Yeah, Billy Bob was incredible as a psychopath..and I loved watching the transformation of Martin Freeman's character from a milktoast into psychopath himself.

The last scene with Billy Bob and Colin Hanks was mesmerizing.

  • Billy Bob was genius.

Gonna be a hard act to follow.

Hope it don't all go downhill like Homeland did after series 1.

Tellya, I'd pay to see a romcom thriller featurin' Billy Bob and Carrie loonin' out.

Sure would love to see a few good scenes with some back and forth between Sheriff Sam and Detective Martin "Marty" Hart.
