I put a site up on Flippa a couple weeks ago and the is my experience so far:
Two private messages.
The first one was from someone in Pakistan that had joined the same day he PMed me.
He wanted my email and messenger information.
I PMed him back saying he could ask me anything he wanted via the site.
I never heard back from him so I checked his profile and he had beem banned.

The second one I got this morning.
This person has just joined today. In his PM he told me how the site would be perfect for his copywriting skills, and he offered me $20 for it.
I have an opening bid of $50 on it, so I have to wonder why he would offer me less than the posting fees?

Some people just crack me up.

Haha. I have a site making $500 a month and some members offer $1 for it.

Amazing things happen every second online. We can't really explain most of the things we experience in IM. That's the joy of the business you know.

How much would a movie-review blog listed on DMOZ go for?

Well, on my first day on flippa.com
i won a site with 7 other domains.. so they were... 3.com and 3 .net and 2 .org
including all the files for 1 site..
guess what was the winning bid for me?? jsut $11.
i guess i got domains at less than $1.5

I am new to flippa and still trying to catch the stuff there.
At first day, i too started bid with minimum possible amount.. no matter what the site is claiming.. because there is an option for either accepting the bid or decline it.

I'm new to flippa too and I've always got the $1 bid, but after rejecting it, if they're serious, they'll usually shoot for higher. Maybe its the rejection factor...no one likes to be rejected!

you just need to browse around the site and look at the auctions with the most activity and compare them to see why they generate alot of activity.

most buyers on flippa want clickbank ready sites and sites that have are establish and already proven to have made money from product sales.

I used to love the old Sitepoint free marketplace and I defected when it became paid. I actually just got out of flipping webites the past couple years as I have built up my own. However today I was on Flippa as I do still review their marketplace and to be honest it doesn't impress me as a buyer or seller.

I too worked with Sitepoint for several years, and I am trying to adjust to the Flippa. I do appreciate the ability to see more details at a glance, for example revenues are now now buried beep within the listing, but rather they are on the listing itself. I have found, however, that the asking price on Flippa tends to be a bit higher than other forums.
