Wow!

Just had to share: recently I took part in writing a chain thriller called Airborne, along with James Patterson and some other writers.

There were 28 writers selected out of a few thousand, and then after the book was written, James Patterson would choose his favourite. He chose mine!

Thanks everyone, it still doesn't seem completely real!

After the comp, I got the opportunity to talk to James (or Jim, as he calls himself) on the phone. We spent about 40 mins chatting about the industry. He's a facinating man, and a really nice, friendly guy (as well as being an industry giant).

I certainly do feel very honoured!

It's already online!

It was all done a chapter a day - all pretty full on. I had about 3 hours to write my chapter (by then, things were getting tight, and so they asked if I could send it early, that'd be good!).

I was never really into competitions, but when it comes to something you create (ie. writing, painting, inventing, etc.), entering a competition seems to be a GREAT way to make industry contacts.

You just reminded me of a quote from Joseph Finder: When it comes to writing, perceverance is just as important as talent.

That could be said for a LOT of things!

Thanks Tim! I'm really quite excited about it.

I just got the printed book in the mail a couple of days ago, personally signed by James Patterson, which was nice.

I guess because in this business we deal with ebooks all the time, it didn't really hit home until I was actually holding a printed book in my hands with my name on it, and published by Australia's (and possibly the world's) biggest publishing house.

Amazing feeling!
