Default Leaving I.M.

Leaving I.M.

After failing so much and doing EVERYTHING wrong I am now ready to leave Internet Marketing. I saw IM as a way to better my life. However I failed miserably at all aspects. I tried and tried and tried.. Still crap. My first(last?) product was a dud. A hopeless piece of crap. Maybe I should rethink my life.. Oh well. I guess this is goodbye.

I will still be doing graphics though. Its how i pay for college anyways. I will probably go get a J.O.B. at MCDo or something.

Im gonna listen to what other people are telling me... "Stop dreaming! Damn it!"

I guess Im just really no good.

Goodbye my friends and sorry if I wasted your time with my crappiness.

I started IM at your age.

I dropped out of school 2 years ago.

Reconsider your self-deprecating attitude eh?

Hey,
Giving up on IM was the biggest mistake that I have made in recent memory. I have only just come back and believe me when I say that failure is not an option, failure is a cop out. Seriously the only way that you can fail is if you quit. Keep trying and eventually something will click and you will find the success you crave.

Forget the rest, as if you have never said them. Just focus on this line: do your graphics thing. People need graphics, lots of it.

Have a website, show off your graphics. Get good at it. Master it. Rock the graphics market. Get clients. Get long time clients who continuously need new graphics for new site. You will eventually have more work than you can handle, the hire people....

Just don't give up.

It took me 3 years ONLY to find my niche. In those 3 years, I graduated, took a job and now I do IM full-time.

Don't give up! It might be that you are still feeling your way through the murky soup of IM but as it has been stated, focus on what you do best.

I've been trying for years myself

One thing I believe though is that power of words or thoughts can have an affect on how you perceive yourself. If you say or think you're a failure, then that will rule your life. You will never see the positive in your life. Not trying to do the positive thinking thing but it is true to a degree.

I can't devote as much time to IM as I'd like; believe me! I'd be on the PC 24/7 but that's not the answer, it's about being focussed. It's a lesson I still need to learn but one thing I'm certain of is that I'm not a failure because I haven't made any money or making consistent money, I'm still learning.
Just don't give it up entirely.

Just say to yourself I can do this! - Whatever it is.

Wishing you well.

Brian

Before you give up for good and lose all hope please read this short story.

I knew a guy, who started playing guitar when he was 10 years old. He tried for a day and gave up.

When he was 14 he picked it up again and played every other day on and off for a few weeks then gave up again. "I'll never be good at guitar so what the point?" he thought to himself.

When he went to college he started playing...again and you know what? He sounded as horrible as he did when he started. "I have absolutly no natural talent" he thought. But he was egotistical and thought he would be "cool" if he played guitar so he kept playing a few times a week and sounded nothing but horrible.

It was hard to play guitar for such a lame reason, but as he played he started to appriciate other things about playing guitar. As he thought about it more his playing improved a litte. And I mean a little. He still over all sounded terrible.. He kept playing a few days a week but sometimes he went for months without a single note. The difference now was that when he put down the guitar he didn't say anything to himself. He gave up on pressuring himself to succeed and allowed his life to take its course.

A year later he now frequently finds himself sitting out on a sunny bench downtown collecting thankful comments and occationally even money from passers by. The people around him really enjoy hsi music. He still thinks hes not very good or skilled. But that doesn't matter. What matters is that he never gave up. It took him over 15 years to even begin to sound good. But he didn't give up. He took it easy on himself instead and now he plays and people like it.

Right now he's doing IM and looking at a sign. In simple blue ink on white lined paper tacked to his wall it says "Never Give Up!".

But whats the meaning?
It has nothing to do with perserverance. He learned from playing guitar that success sometimes takes a long time. But eventually, if the steps are taken, success will be had.

So, dont give up. Stop if you want. Stop for a day, a week, a month, a year. But unless you don't enjoy it, or the future it holds for you then what reason do you have to give up? Just stop. Take it easy on yourself. And come back to it when you're ready.

Don't give up man, sounds like you are going against the flow of life right now. Negativity is draining - stop doing and keep changing your approach til you get the sucess you want. Its a matter of patience

Dude - If you're going to become a self-fulfilling prophet, then at least point yourself in the right direction. Snap out of it! You're young, so get up and dust yourself off. Grab that crappy attitude by the gonads and give it a good head-butt.

Let your good attitude take over, knowing that there are millions of ways to make money online, and you've got plenty of time to figure some of them out.

I agree...Just take a break. There's a difference between quitting and just needing a break.

Sometimes you just need to get your mind off of something for a while to "recharge".

Despite what the big gooroos say, it's OK if IM is a hobby or a sideline to supplement your income. Go get a job so you have some guaranteed cash...Just taking the pressure off yourself may do wonders.

But don't quit.

Why is it that when somebody says they are leaving IM, others feel the need
to tell them that they're making a big mistake and that they shouldn't give
up?

Some people just aren't cut out for this and should be doing something else.

I'll just never understand this one.

Totally agree with you.

I check out your graphics page, and people are singing your praises for the work you've done. Keep at that and there are other places you can advertise your services.

You can go to Elance and look for work there, on Digitalpoint I think has a section you can advertise. You don't really have an excuse if you have a skill like graphic design. I wish I could do graphics like the ones you make.

Kind regards

Brian

Because Stephen, sometimes it's just not hitting that one thing.

I failed miserably for about 4 years before I did anything that brought me decent income on line. I never considered giving up, but I really thought I was not cut out for it either...

Until I hit what I was missing.

Now I do ok.

He's young - he has no idea what he's cut out for yet.

Besides...quitting is a VERY hard habit to break

Renault760, saying someone is not cut out for a certain type of work is not the same as encouraging them to off themselves.
Steve is right, some people just aren't cut out for this line of work.
And you are right, sometimes it is a cry for help.
The thing is both posts are valid comments.
Mike A is also correct, quitting is very hard to quit!

It appears to me that he just has the wrong attitude. It's obvious by the work in his signature that he has what it takes to make it. He just has the wrong attitude, and according to his post, must be surrounded by people that are bringing him down.

In my opinion the only type of person that is not cut out for IM - are those that can not persevere.

do you know how many great people "failed" before being successful?

Walt Disney declared bankruptcy several times before becoming a huge success.

digitalphantom95, take a rest, and then figure out what you really want to do. What makes you happy? Whatever it is, do more of it. Don't worry about the money. It will come.

I wish you every success and every happiness.
