I took a few cues from some of you guys about the FX show Fargo a few weeks ago. You said it was really good

So I DVRed the last two episodes last night. And just finished them at lunch.

Really fantastic stuff. Really like the writing and the characters. I think Iam hooked.

The first 20 minutes I was about to turn it off because I had no idea what was going on. But decided to give it a chance

So by the first 15 minutes of the second episode I was hooked.

Good stuff. Love the darkness to it

I also like the BB character guy who is in it, the butcher
  • I got Fargo stacked up on TV box, along with a loada other stuff gonna keep me together when the winter bugs come crawlin' thru alla my healthholes.

Followin' Billy Bob was always gonna be a crotchsplitter of a bar raise, but the 1st episode of the new series didn't disappoint.

Plenty of artistically delivered gore, bulgin' roster of kooks, an' loadsa unnervingly unfestive snow.

Plus, the girl drove the killer home gonna put the whole planet at risk with her ditzo.

Tellya, if I ever settle down in a nowhere town fulla psychos, this place is it.

      I watch it.
I love the characters. Such depravity. Such insanity. State Troopers Lou and Hank are the only sane people in town. (And Lou's wife, of course)

The ditsy bonkers wife, and her trusting idiot husband are frustrating as heck, but you can't look away. That hesitant half sentence Fargo talking is infectious.

That short speech that Lou gave the couple, in their home was incredible TV.

And the nonchalant brutality of the people is impossible to look away from.

That indian guy is one scary dude, as well.

The first 20 minutes of the first episode almost lost me. But Fargo and The Walking Dead are my must see shows. Characters and writing will keep an audience.

And......was that a UFO I saw? Just wondering.

Yeah, I had no idea how they would top Billy Bob Thornton's psychopath.....but they figured it out. Sausage anyone?

To change the subject, did anyone see "Jobs" yet? I saw it on vacation along with Ant Man (that on a big screen on the cruise liners top deck)

Not quite what I was expecting, not a potted history like the last one on him. An intense character study based around a few specific events in his life. Quite compelling.

    Back to Fargo.

After the discussion in the other thread, I binge-watched the first season and loved it. I like how there was a tie in between the original movie and the TV series. In case you missed it, in the movie Steve Buscemi's character buries a bag full of money in the snow by a fence. In the TV series Oliver Platt's character, (the supermarket king), finds the bag when he's destitute. He then goes on to open a string of supermarkets with the money. Nicely done.

The second season has started showing on free to air down here, and I watched the first episode. Obviously it spent most of the time establishing the main characters so was a bit slow.

I'm going to wait until the series has finished and binge-watch the whole thing. I'm really beginning to hate the idea if waiting a week until the next episode of a show. It's an outdated business model and doesn't really allow viewers to get involved the same way that binge viewing does, especially with shows that are one continuous story spread over a number of episodes.

Anyway, I've just finished watching Narco on Netflix and can thoroughly recommend it It's the story of a DEA agent sent to Colombia to deal with Pablo Escabar. Binge view it while you're waiting for the next episode of Fargo.

The wife rarely cracks a funny, but on vacation she scored a home run. I said, have you seen my glasses, I think I must have forgotten to pack them.

She said: "That's Very Short Sighted Of You"

My wife is the same. Seldom does she tell a joke. But she would have added, after I stared at her for a second, "I'm just kidding".

None of the actors from the first season are in the second season.

This season, it takes place maybe 30 years in the past.

Nope. Different town, different characters, different time. Each season is a stand-alone story.

So far, they have completely different actors, and different story lines. The one connecting character is State Trooper Hank. In the first season he is retired, owns a coffee shop, and is played by (I think) Keith Carradine.

And this season, he is a much younger man, played by Patrick Wilson.

But all the story lines are independent from the first season and second.

Now that you mention it, i seem to recall a scene in Hank's diner where him and his daughter are discussing season 1's case. He makes some mention of events that took place back in 1979 which is when season 2 is set.

So it turns out there is a connection between the movie and season 1, and season 1 and 2.

Keep an ear open during season 2 for any mention of a grisly crime that happened in the past. That might be the story line in season 3.

I've been hooked on Fargo since the first season as well. The connected characters are Lou Solverson, who owned the diner in the first season, and is now his younger self as the police officer - and his child in the current season, Molly, who grows up to become the main police officer in the first season.

I noticed the lights at the start of ep 1. I think there's just been one other reference to them so far, but I've no idea where that storyline could be going.
