How drones can reforest the planet

I love that we can green out the planet usin' drones.

Where once lay only boulders an' barren plains, now trees gonna spring an' flourish.

Just gotta avoid lookin' up.

I don't wanna lose my cool blue haze, my skinny dippin' clouds.

That looks like a good idea but nobody plants trees from seed.

Sustainable forest use tree seedlings that have at least a years worth of growth. Those seedlings are usually propagated from cuttings.

Still... this looks so inexpensive & could be based on GPS that it should be tested, especially in remote areas. Imagine pulling up in a 4x4 pickup & launching 100 drones out of the back of the truck without leaving the drivers seat.

Yeah, TOO SIMPLISTIC! A healthy plant could look sick, and vice/versa. Soil, ESPECIALLY "HARVESTED SOIL" may not take seeds well. WHO determines where the seed is planted? The BEST way would be to pulverize the old trunks, DIFFICULT to do, and plant away from the roots. ALSO DIFFICULT! And planting a seed to replace a hundred year old tree will take FOREVER! Planting a *****TREE***** is very complicated and expensive, and they will have trouble planting even ONE with a drone! OH, SURE, you can plant a SEED and hope that it becomes a baby tree in a decade or two, but it is still not a replacement for the huge tree that was removed.

Have you ever seen them try to remove trunks before?

We are NOT talking about your normal farming where you can easily remove the plant, and replant almost anywhere. Even THEN, they often say to plant several inches or feet away. TREES are far more complicated, and they often recommend feet or TENS OF YARDS away! DON'T forget! It is THIS little truth that companies like roto rooter use to advertise THEIR business.

And GPS would only get it CLOSE! You would need some kind of optic system, hopefully guided by a person, to get the position close enough to have a high yield.

BTW doesn't ANYONE else see the contradiction? If they could REALLY replace them SOOOOOO easily, WHY BOTHER? They could just harvest the REPLACEMENTS instead! It is less work, and they would get a higher yield! So WHY don't they? TWO reasons!

1. THEY CAN'T!
2. In order to APPEAR that they can, they need TIME! And they don't want to lower their yield by 99% and increase the delivery time by decades, so they ask for a sort of LOAN! YOU loan them the healthy trees TODAY and they PROMISE to replace them in a few decades or centuries.

BTW they COULD deliver books as PDFs, provide REAL electronic signatures, and use METAL for buildings! We COULD conceivably LOWER costs, increase security and quality, and get rid of the need to harvest most of the wood harvested today! And did YOU know that many building codes erquire 25% fewer beams and braces with the average Ibeam house, compared with 2x4s or 2x6s!?!?!?!?

Meh. All it does it plant trees. The forestry industry already replants after harvest.

I thought it was going to be all Call of Duty and snipe the asshats that cut and burn virgin forest for one crop of corn.

Or better the asshat poachers in Asia and Africa.
