Another telemarketer horror story

I think I've posted here before about telemarketers who won't stop calling me. I have a new one annoying me now, but I have stopped answering the phone when I know its her calling.
Every day last week she phoned my house between 10 and 10:30 a.m. asking for my husband and I told her each time that he is working. Finally after day 5 of her calling I asked her why she calls every day when I tell her every day my husband is working and she said "because I only work days."
When I see the no name, no phone number on my caller ID box I just don't answer the phone anymore. I am on a do not call list, but lately the calls have started up again.

telemarketers work on a metric called aht. its how long they are on a call and its usually a big deal for them when it comes to promotions or raises. if you want to mess up the aht, tell them to hold on while you get a pen and put the phone in between the couch cushions and go about your business.

or a police whistle works well too.

For once, I can agree with you! Something tells me you are an expert in matters such as that!

These people can be a right pain in the neck.
In the UK there is a number you can call & put yourself on a list which is suppose to prevent telemarketers. I have used this & it works quite well - it doesn't stop all calls but it stops most. Is there an equivalent it the USA?

Take a look at this great video, which shows one way of dealing with telemarketers. I am not recommending anyone should copy this, but the video is very funny and will make you smile.

I'm happy to say I don't think I've ever got a call from a telemarketer and can't think of anyone who has. If I did, I'd feel like this fella:

LOL - it can get like that real fast.

Yes there are do not call lists in the US but some companies do not observe them (imagine that!). Lately they have bots that call and when you answer the phone they actually ask you to hold for THEIR call! That's gutsy in my book.

I don't say anything - just put the reciever off to the side and let it screw up their connections. Not much they can do about it - what are they going to do report me for not cooperating with their harassing calls, LOL. If the calls get to be a real problem once you have left the phone off the hook long enough for them to hang up on you, you can call the operator and report the call and they can go back and find who the caller was - three strikes and you can sue them to high hell and back - less if you are on a do not call list.

I understand what you are saying but i believe we should really place the blame on telemarketers right away. Not many people know this but a telemarketer has a script that they have to follow at all costs, or they can get hit in several metrics and cost them their job.

Sorry, I know about the scripts and, frankly my dear, I don't give a damn.

I don't blame the telemarketers, I blame the companies who use the marketing technique without ethics.

I telemarket in my business: I contact a prospective company with two e-mails and a phone call; two phone call & 1 e-mail or any combination of the above. If I don't get a response, I remove them from my call list. I use targeted calls to companies who would be interested in my product: green architects, general contractors, GSA companies, real estate agents/brokers, etc. I do not call consumers.

It's the companies who refuse to take "no" for an answer and tell the people to "keep calling" that gives the method a bad rap and kills it for all who use it to get their product out.

If I get an call I know I shouldn't be getting, I usually answer the prone like this:
"I am on the Do Not Call list, why are you calling me?"

I usually get either a lot of sputtering at the other end or just a real fast hang up on me. Either way I get some sort of perverse satisfaction.

I reverse the tables on them and try and get them to join my phony religion "brotherhood of love" when they realize I'm clearly a crazy cult member they are itching to get away from ...ME

I am never ever rude though, because i know they have a hard job and I'm just playing with them
