Post How Jason Fladlien Became A Household Word or A List Building Product Review

I just started working full time on establishing an online marketing business. I was a CEO in the plastics injection molding business making parts for cars for over 30 years. So having hired many sales and marketing people I sort of know the ropes. The first thing I decided to do is to get my name out there to establish an internet identity. I Joined Twitter, Facebook, and started a website to develop a niche. I bought some information online to help speed up the learning process. So yesterday I was watching a Jason Fladlien tutorial and got to video number nine on "pinging your blog". Very informative section. I do understand the point.

Unfortunately for me the term yanked me off task and became a nagging distraction. I have to get this off my chest so I can go back to learning internet marketing methods. So instead of a meaningful post adding some value to a topic, I humbly introduce myself to this group in the form of the following. Please don’t hold it against me.

Maybe it's because I grew up a street kid north of Detroit but does this term "pinging your blog" just beg for double meanings? It just rolls off your tongue; sort of begs to be repeated. Pinging your blog, pinging my blog, pinging their blog. Something to add to the noise level having a beer with friends "I had my blog pinged today". Does it already hold double meanings to a younger generation and I just never heard of it before? Is it legal? Can you stand in your front yard and ping your blog? Is the term something you can use in casual conversation such as...”the other day while pinging my blog”, or “Can you hold on a minute? I'm pinging my blog”. I can picture George Carlin saying it.

I remember an old game show called "What's My Line" (you youngsters look it up on YouTube) where the panelists were blindfolded and had to ask up to 10 questions to guess a mystery guest’s identity. The questions asked, (often shrouded in double meanings) would be like these: Are you well known for having this ability? Is this something you would do at home? Is it more frequently done in the daytime or at night? Is it something you would have to pay to have done?

Okay, okay enough. In any event, before today I can't remember ever pinging my blog.

Hopefully this will be moderated out of existence, graded for punctuation and never cross a computer screen, but I had to get it off my mind and get back to List Building 101. I am soaking up this stuff as fast as I can, am enjoying Jason’s straight forward open approach and will forever be his loyal follower.

Funny.

Unfortunately it's in the wrong place - should be in Off Topic and will likely be moved.

Welcome to the Warrior Forum!

Now get back to pinging your blog...

Jason is a great guy so you should get back to the training! First welcome to the warrior forum - its a great place if you participate and learn.

As for the word pinging - yea I come from a programming/system administration/networking back ground and pinging has a whole different meaning to me. Not as risque perhaps - but definitely different.

Of course in the Unix world if a child process has its parent killed then the child becomes a zombie. I wrote that in one of the books I authored and we spent over 3 days arguing with the editors about using that sentence in a 'family' friendly book.

Again, welcome to the WF! There are several great threads for first time Warriors - use the search function at the top - you'll find these threads a great help. Also on the first page there's a sticky topic by Adeel with several videos to help navigate the forum.

Thanks..Wrong place because it was 1st post...so much to learn. It was first attempt at writing something as a result of learning all this IM stuff. I struggled over Jason as a "word" (a brand) and Jason as name (personality) in the title. I thought any response would point that out but I think it should have been name.

Thanks Jack...you really been doing this since 2007? I wish I had known more about it. I spent September and October 2008 going from industrial door to industrial door in OH, KY, WV, PA, IN, and IL trying to sell manufactured goods. I knew the economy was bad, but the attempt to cold call or set up appointments convinced me that those methods are dead and buried. If you are not where the customer is looking, you are out of luck. My clue was the fact that every place I entered no longer had a receptionist, indicating they were not expecting any visitors. Thanks for the welcome and you are right about Jason.

Tina, Thank you for the welcome. Yes, the post was a way of getting myself back on track. It seemed to have an upbeat tone to it. Sort of like Jason. The video I saw of his, also had Robert Plank chiming in either in person or online. What I like is the lack of obvious stress in this arena. It is pervasive in the Michigan auto economy. It is nice to know there is a pony somewhere in all this stuff. Any way I woke up in the middle of the night with an absolute brainstorm on how to drive traffic to my site so I can get this ball rolling. What I discovered was that all my years in the auto supply base honed my problem solving skills and pointed the way. Bizybizybizy.

Thanks again,
Jim

Jason,

I used to run companies making plastic parts for cars. I came across a lot of talented people, but none like you with the easy communication style that comes across in your presentations. You are really one of a kind.

Thanks for all the info and downloads. I'll be immersed for quite a while.
