    I don't either.
In fact they're real good cooked on a spit over an open fire.

They are a great bait for large mouth bass.

A lesson from how to 'wok your dog' - truly chilling

In California we have bright orange ones called 'mud puppies' and they are just darling.

I have watched them bask in the sun and play in a puddle smiling like it was a day at the beach.

(ok do not say only in California)

Therefore, I would never eat one. Well actually I don't think I would have eaten one anyway even if they were ugly.

Salamanders are cute! And kinda small and scrawny. I don't imagine there is much meat on their little bones - - I don't really see why people would bother trying to eat them. Besides, since they probably "taste like chicken", you might as well just EAT chicken rather than that poor little salamander.

A couple years ago I watched a salamander sneak up on a mosquito. I was rooting for the salamander. It won, mosquito lost. Any mosquito-eating creatures get two thumbs up from me (and yes, that includes bats, although I don't think THEY are particularly cute...).

BTW, a friend came back from a year in Cambodia. He said they had a lot of geckos there. People essentially invite them into the house, as the geckos spend their time hunting bugs (so people don't have to). I know that geckos are different from salamanders but they are both cute little reptiles right? Bug eaters? Keeps me from having those horrible shrieking incidents when I find some icky bug in the bath or on my bed. Now I wish I had a salamander (probably better than some man as far as dealing with bugs anyway).

So - as much as this pains me - I am with Asian Lunatic on this - - I don't hate salamanders either. Yay salamanders!

Plus, they look like they are smiling.

      Best Regards, Georgetta

I was watching that Bazaar Foods show last night. He was in Thailand eating fire ants and little lizards.
I agree with you Georgette, anything that eats mosquito's is OK in my book.

I think they're pretty cool. As a child I used to walk creek beds that were pretty much dried up and find them by the hundreds. Unfortunately I also found out that they don't survive long in aquarium full of mud.
